- John - 11-19-2007 Evan Wrote:Fire Jason Campbell. WTF are you talking about? Campbell looked good today - pretty much no QBs come out of the box looking perfect. - John - 11-19-2007 Apoc Wrote:It's clear to me that the Cowboys defense doesn't have a defense to win the SB. I said it a few weeks ago and it's even more obvious today. I think Cambell's success was a due to a serious inability of the Cowboys to A) rush the passer and B) cover the middle of the field. No, b/c the Pats are going to steamroll anybody this year. Redskins success was because they moved to a passing game and enlisted more trust into Campbell - and he performed damn well. Cowboys didn't play poorly, the Redskins played well. - Evan - 11-19-2007 John Wrote:Evan Wrote:Fire Jason Campbell. maybe you missed the rest of my post? Evan Wrote:Slow decisions, late passes, he doesnt see the whole field and constantly misses wide open recievers (2 which would have won the game today), every pass is thrown behind a receiver or off target. John Wrote:Campbell looked good today - pretty much no QBs come out of the box looking perfect."out of the box" wtf are YOU talking about? Campbell was drafted in 05. he didnt play terrible but ultimately he lost the game, the rest of the offense played better than he did. His statistics were decent but stats dont mean much, especially when you throw 54 times. The throws that he is outright missing are easy stuff that he should make, and its the same each week. Balls chronically behind the receiver, and very late. But Im pretty sure I already said that. Ive seen 15 years of mediocre redskins quarterbacks and I can see this is just another one of them. you know who else was talked about (and played) EXACTLY like campbell? Heath Shuler. - Apoc - 11-19-2007 John Wrote:Cowboys didn't play poorly, the Redskins played well. The majority of time they moved the ball was because the receivers were wide open in middle of the field. Converting multiple 3rd and longs isn't because your team is playing well, it's because coverage breaks down. If the team was playing well, they wouldn't have been in 3rd and long so many times in the first place. As Evan said, a lot of Campbell's passes were above or behind the receiver. I'm pretty sure most QBs could find the open receiver with the kind of time he got. I don't think he's super shitty, I just think today's performance was an exception to the rule. What the Redskins did do well was protect the QB. That was part of the reason why the receivers could find the holes and the reason why Campbell looked so good. Now if they can protect him he'll certainly win games but I still don't think he's a franchise player. - Maengelito - 11-19-2007 Evan Wrote:you know who else was talked about (and played) EXACTLY like campbell? Heath Shuler. well, heath shuler's actually doing great. just not for the skins. he's one of tennessee's representatives i think - Evan - 11-19-2007 i thought it was south carolina? - stevegula - 11-19-2007 North Carolina you fake-Redskins fans. Gosh. - Kaan - 11-19-2007 all i heard all week was "oh i'm not watching the game" or "i'm going to watch the game at home." It was a good game. if any team knows how to play the cowboys, its the redskins. Campbell played well, he had lots of time... and if he could have made some throws, it would have been a different game. Campbell is basically doing a trial by fire. Romo was groomed over years by coaches and staff... he lucked out. if they signed his ass and threw him in the game, he'd be a big failure. if romo didnt have witten, owens, crayton (when he catches the ball), an O line that is working well (though he still gets preasured and has to be mobile), and two backs that do a fairly good job... he wouldnt be who he is. I'm a cowboys fan... and for the first half, i was worried the cowboys wouldnt be able to put up the points to win. I think that its going to be hard to cover TO 100% of the time, and dallas will punish you when it breaks down. on TO's second TD witten was open too, but romo went for the big shot down the middle. the end of the season game is going to be BIG... especially if dallas is still fighting GB for the home field advantage. - Kaan - 11-19-2007 Apoc Wrote:The majority of time they moved the ball was because the receivers were wide open in middle of the field. Converting multiple 3rd and longs isn't because your team is playing well, it's because coverage breaks down. that is a product of the skins going to a "Cover 2" on most of the third and longs... the problem with the cover 2 is if you dont get the preasure on the QB someone is going to be matched up with a line backer... TO or JW in the middle of the field. the linebackers zone up in the between the hash marks and if a safety comes down on witten, TO will be open... if he stays on TO the ball will be thrown to witten. Everyone played up on witten to jump his routes after the interception when the backer jumped his route. but to change this up in the second half, dallas had witten in motion and started mixing in out patters after the CBs were run out of the area by the wide outs. witten didnt have a big game, but with a hurt secondary for the skins, to keep him quiet things broke down deep. - Apoc - 11-19-2007 I was talking about the Redskins. - Hunter - 11-19-2007 Evan Wrote:you know who else was talked about (and played) EXACTLY like campbell? Heath Shuler.Whoa whoa whoa. Heath Shuler? He was the terrible horrible no good very bad quarterback, and although Campbell's not lighting the world on fire, he's far better than Heath Shuler ever was. Give the young guy some time... Campbells first 17 games 299-522 57.3% 21 TDS 14 Picks Peyton Mannings first 17 326-575 56.7% 16 TDs 28 Picks But really, the skins lost the game because of defense, not because of jason campbell. Terrible Owens caught 4 touchdown passes for fucks sake. Since he came to the NFC east with the eagles 4 years ago, he has always be owned by Sean Taylor. Besides yesterdays game, he had averaged 3 catches and 35 yards and only scored one touchdown total against the skins. As soon as Sean Taylor isn't in the line up Terrible Owens scores 4 TDs. I think the last two games have made it incredibly clear how important ST is to this Defense. Last week, the eagles weren't doing shit until Taylor was injured at the end of the 3rd quarter, then they start throwing it deep and score 20 points in the 4th. If Sean Taylor doesn't get hurt, I bet we would be talking about how good the skins are after winning both of those games. - CaptainHenreh - 11-19-2007 The best part of that game was Romo getting hit in the face with the football. R-O-F-L. The camera caught it perfectly, too. - Apoc - 11-19-2007 So what you're saying is your season hinges on 1 player? - Evan - 11-19-2007 guys.... Campbell. is. not. a. rookie. this is his third season, he had over a season and a half of learnin' on the sidelines and several starting games last season. The comparison to Shuler is that the exact same things were said about him. "He is getting better, just you wait!" "He is a rookie he needs some time" etc etc. Do you hear those things out of Ben Roethlisburger , Tom Brady, etc when they are tossed into games? Nope. (and ben was actually a rookie when he started) Payton is a good example for the contrary, but when he was a rookie his team was rebuilding and sucked, just like when Aikman started with the cowboys. The redskins dont suck, at least they have the talent to not suck. A better comparison is Romo, the guy on the other side of the ball, who didnt take 3 draft picks to get and puts the ball where it needs to be. bottom line, I personally think that Campbell is missing a lot of throws he should make, he is not seeing the field, and his timing isnt that good. I sure as shit hope he gets better but I dont think the praise currently is the slightest bit deserved. He was the weak link in the offense yesterday - Kaan - 11-19-2007 Romo sat on the bench and worked with very good quarter backs and coaches to get him where he is right now. he sat on the bench as long as campbell has been in the league learning. give campbell some time... at least the coach let him throw the ball... if he was held back like i think he was in earlier games, they wouldnt have scored like they did this game. he was the reason the skins put up the points they did, maybe the reason the didnt "win"... but that will call come with time. - Apoc - 11-19-2007 Kaan defending Campbell and Evan praising Romo? The world has gone to shit. - Kaan - 11-19-2007 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/boxscore? ... week=REG11 there is the box score for the game. neither team could run the ball... on paper other than 4 TDs by romo... both team looks like crap... at least on paper. the only thing that was "big" was the 3rd down number. Redskin fans will throw a QB under the bus faster then any group of fans in the NFL. They need to rebuild... you can rebuild the entire team all you want, but you are still reubilding until you have a starting QB that you will stick with. When are you guys going to stop calling for another QB and let a QB come into his prime. whats the average life expectancy of a QB in washington? 2 years? After norv turner screws up at head coaching again the skins need to bring him in to train their QBs. Campbell doesnt suck, he's got a strong arm, he can run, he can move in the pocket, he just needs more time! Campbell throws an interception to end a go ahead scoring drive.... Romo botches a snap in the playoffs for the game winning field goal... did you Mannings game this weekend? ha! even he can screw up... every great QB has tough games, tough seasons... I'll make this statement... Campbell > Phil Sims.... - Kaan - 11-19-2007 Apoc Wrote:Kaan defending Campbell and Evan praising Romo? It is sad when a Cowboy fan is defending a Redskin player to his fans. It was a typical NFC east game. It was close, it was hard faught, it wasnt pretty, but it was a good game... even though i thought the Cowboys were going to lose for at least 90% of the game. Yes i cheered when Moss caught the ball with one hand using his fingers... it was a fucking good catch... with a good throw... into good coverage! - Evan - 11-19-2007 *shrug* I was happy with Brunell. I think we would be 8-2 with brunell right now. well, I think history has shown that a ton of sideline time doesnt do much. Just look at any career backup QB. A season of sideline study is plenty, I dont think Romo had a huge advantage especially since he didnt come in with the physical skills that Campbell has. Im not really talking about a mistake or 2 for Campbell that makes me think he isnt the next franchise quarterback. He is just consistently making bad throws, especially in critical times. - Apoc - 11-19-2007 Brunell = Bledsoe Neither was or should be the future of any ball club. ...and I like Bledsoe. |
