I like a lot of things for different reasons.
SV is bling because its cheap, looks good, and sounds great with an aftermarket pipe.
Most of them I cant afford, so i'm stuck with daydreaming. And you're the one that wants the fireblad, get it right
My next bike will be a Monster S2R though. Air cooled twin, no fairings - more simple = more better.

Desmodromic valvetrain != simple
If you want simple get a single cylinder air cooled motard. Or if you must have"TWO" get a Hypermotard or KTM950.

Fixed that for you.
SV's make hugely better trackbikes than RR's for us mortals. The RR is just too much at once. An SV has less overall grip and less violent acceleration... everything gets done slower on one. This is a lot better once you hit the track because there are soo many different things to concentrate on - the more you can devote your attention to form [and subsequently less on keeping the rear tire from lighting up] the better. That, and you'll be more of the equation on an SV than on the RR - it won't let you get away with as much poor form as the RR will.
Plus, SV's are awesome for under 700cc twins catagories :-D (WERA lightweights
). You know, if racing's your bug *cough*cough*That, and RR's will get you more tail than SV's will on the street

Yes, you get 3 of them.
The 2v air-cooled engines are very simple and easy to work on. You've got 4 valves, and they're easily accessible on the naked bikes.

Thats much easier work than doing this most 4-cyl jap bikes, where the cams have to be removed, you'll need a special tool to remove the shims, and you have 16 shims to deal with.

Of course its less complicated than a DOHC 4 cylinder but you can't tell me that's simpler than a single cylinder air cooled engine. Nope, don't believe it *shakes head*

I am also atm, but will probably look a lot harder once I get out of school and get back to NOVA. At the latest Ill have one by the time i go back to JMU next sem, but hopefully ill be picking one up a bit earlier than that . :wink:

nothing too good right now. the 500ex was solid, but then the guy dropped off the face of the planet. i've got several emails and pms out on pretty much everything in this thread, but people are pretty awful about responding.

if you tell them you have cash in-hand and ready to purchase they'll pay more attention to you. when i sold my GS i had about 25 people (yes, that's right) email me within 8 hours of the post on CL. the only ones i paid close attention to were the ones who said they were willing to bring cash-in hand or money order or cashier's check. I answered their questions first and watched for their emails. The others i answered, but could never keep track of. I eventually set up times with those serious buyers and set a general meeting time and basically said, "first one here with the money gets the bike".
