WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - Jake - 11-02-2017 I'd pass given the rust and the fact that a 540i isn't that rare. It'll only make it harder to resell unless you fix it, and I doubt you'd fix it. WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 Also has a Dinan CAI. Some ps leak somewhere, owner says it’s slow. No VANOS or timing chain noise I can hear. RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - davej - 11-02-2017 $2500 or gtfo but yeah, I'm with Jake on the rust, it's not going to get any better while you drive it WTB: Fast 4 Door - Senor_Taylor - 11-02-2017 That's an odd place to have rust unless it's holding moisture behind it somewhere. Unless those tail light seals are designed weird. What does the bottom look like? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - RawrImAMonster - 11-02-2017 I'm with everyone else. I wouldn't touch it with that rust. WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 I mean... the car was an IL car... underside looked OK from what I could see. I did also see some grease on the exhaust near the front of the rear diff, so that may be leaking a bit. On the fence about it, but thinking pass. Needs to pass MD inspection: Tires Rear tint removed *maybe* 1 taillight, has a crack. Otherwise I think it would probably pass unless they find some really worn suspension stuff, but it felt pretty tight, no clunks. RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-02-2017 I would pass, I had rust on my M3 convertible back in the day and it made it a nightmare to sell. That said it did sell and I still made money on it; it just makes it more of a pain. RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - .RJ - 11-02-2017 Would pass on that rust. No idea whats hiding underneath it or how deep it goes. A german car that old should not be rusting anywhere. WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 This may be the first time in MM history that the group think is *not* to buy a busted BMW. Nope, you must not be following any of Taylor's "builds". WTB: Fast 4 Door - Senor_Taylor - 11-02-2017 I was told not to buy a busted BMW and I didn't listen to them. I'm rich, happy, successful, and certainly don't have car trouble. Be like me. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 Someone find me something better for 5g before I lose my resolve and buy an E38 WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 Clean but crack pipe price, maybe I could work him down? Hey, check out this car I found on Cars.com: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/711909098/overview?aff=share_other Check out the Carfax - one owner, dealer maintained. RE: WTB: Fast 4 Door - WRXtranceformed - 11-02-2017 You said you didn't want a Lexus LS because it was too luxurious but you want an old Jag instead? You do know that Jag got its bad reputation from basically any car it made prior to 2008 right WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 (11-02-2017, 08:46 PM)WRXtranceformed Wrote: You said you didn't want a Lexus LS because it was too luxurious but you want an old Jag instead? Yea, reviewers hated those old, slow crappy Jaguars. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/jaguar/xj-series/1998/1998-jaguar-xjr-long-term-wrap-up/ Put your crack pipe away. I was referring to the reliability. They drove it as a new car and put less than 13k miles on it. You linked a 200k mile Jaguar... You do you man, prove me wrong! I loved my Jag, but it was new and nice and not cheap. And I put about as many miles on it as those guys did. I was also smart enough to sell it before the timer ran out on the warranty. The E-diff replacement would have been $5500 in parts alone iirc WTB: Fast 4 Door - ViPER1313 - 11-02-2017 The parts prices on 20 y/o luxury cars are not nearly as bad as you may imagine. Some are bespoke, but even the “expensive” parts are not that insane. For example, let’s look at some “nightmarish” replacement costs for the XJR (for used parts sourced from car-part.com) Full engine: $1200 Supercharger: $135 Transmission: $600 Modern cars are way, way worse.
