I didn't realize there were that new to you. Have you priced out getting them died? That honestly may be easier than searching another 4 years.

Something tells me dying gray cloth tan would be a lot of work Wink

Looks good Dave! I'd either swap the rear seat to gray or re-cover the fronts but regardless, I can imagine how much nicer these feel to sit in!

Honestly, with the rarity of those seats in tan, it might be worth it (if even possible). I saw them this weekend and they look great, but they'd look STELLAR in tan.

There's a custom interior shop in town but it added up real quick when we talked. I need to make contact with this old furniture repair place one guy was telling me about. He had a couple of parts done and said they came out very nice and was super reasonable. I don't know if he dyes fabric and leather, but I'm with Jake, that's got to be a ton of work to do properly.

My other thought is going with a set of iggee.com covers, they are formed to fit over the specific seats, not just a generic seat cover. Jackson has them, but I still need to meet up and see them in person.

I'd really like tan, and although rare as hen's teeth, they are no where near as popular as the black interior, so if I end up going back to stock to sell it later, it might take a while to find a buyer for them.

New straps are on their way so I'm excited to see how those make a difference.
Last bits (I think) are a couple of covers for the reclining knob and seat back release, in case any of you guys peep some at a junk yard.

Those old seats were pretty well collapsed. Good call. Make sure you rub horsehair and oil into the new ones to retain a period correct odor.

Man I loved the (grey cloth, too) e21 Recaros I had in my e30's.  They too had saggy straps though, I'm sure they'll be much better with fresh ones.  Looks great!

5 weeks, this could be a new PR for part installation!

I should have waited to install the seats until the straps arrived, but oh well, back out they came. Ok, one at least. I still need to do the other.

Someone was very liberal with their hog ring usage and attached the straps to everything, and clearly wrong in the back. Took longer than it should to get all the crap removed but the new straps went on quickly and made an immediate difference.

The gap in the rear probably lead to an early rip in the foam. I'm thinking about putting in a piece of heavy duty cardboard or something to give it a bit more support, but we'll see.
