Honestly its a terrible time to buy right now. the prices are crazy, stock is low, demand is high... ammo is GONE and/or 5 times the "normal" price.
It might as well be the Obama defacto gun control... they all got purchased and there are none to be had and there is no ammo left... good luck getting some. and obama talking guns is the only stimulus thats worked

It depends on what you want too. I have seen plenty of handguns for sale for normal prices, other than a few hot items that are hard to find. Rifles are the tough ones.

you built your lower... and added an upper. assembling an upper is easier then assembling the lower... but you havent assembled an upper yet. generally "building" an AR requires assembling the upper and the lower.

That's not terrible for hollow points...I just don't really see the point of hollow point rifle ammo.

For small critters a 50 gr hollow or soft point pretty much makes them explode in .223.
Honestly, I wouldn't hunt with anything BUT a hollow or soft point. Also, using a cavity in the front has two effects; one to improve ballistic performance (by shifting weight rearward) and two to increase tumbling in tissue at longer ranges.
Really, there's no reason to use FMJ's other than being cheap.

Not surprising at all. A buddy of mine has a nice reloading machine that a friend gave to him. I have been saving all of my brass and I think I am going to learn on his machine and eventually just do it myself. Makes so much more sense than spending so much on ammo.

Ordered some more stuff, thanks to working at the track for 3.5 days
Magpul Enhanced Butt pad - This is a thicker pad for the stock
Magpul MOE RVG grip - Vertical grip to add to the handguard
Viking's Tactics VTAC Wide sling "Upgraded" - Recommended by R & K firearms as the sling of choice. The upgraded version includes metal buckles/triglides, and a grippy rubberized pull tab
Some Uncle Mike's QD swivels for the sling
And the Aluminum strike plate for my UBR stock - Just incase my rifle needs to be used as a club due to the ammo shortage.
Also snagged some more Gen 3 Windowed Pmags when they popped up on ARFCOM.
