As far as smart watches go (I'm a hater of watches in general), I'd agree it looks to be at the top of the pile.
If it did cycling, I might be enticed. I'm over Garmin, their bulky designs, and shit software and support.

Cycling is coming very soon, it will enable HR and GPS, I think it will also give you elevation change since this has a built in altimeter.

I think also, it's because people think that a FitBit will assist them in being fit. People who already are fit (or are on their way) know they're fuckin' buuuuuullshit, and save their fucking money.

People that are pretty fit use other things to track fitness (Heart Rate, Power, etc). I know some of them that use the fitbit/basis/etc trackers.

Was in costco today and the have a Motorola smart watch that looked pretty sleek. Moto 360 was the name maybe? Looked like a normal round watch and does a screen simulation to make it look like an analog watch. Not sure if you looked at that one but seemed neat. Think it was $240 at costco

Yea, the biggest negatives with all of the latest run of these smart watches is battery life and display IMO.
Most of them barely last a day before needing a recharge, and the display is near impossible to read in sunlight.
I think the 360 is a huge watch....1.8in/45mm bezel, almost 1/2in/11mm thick.
Plus the blacked out portion on the bottom of the 360 that houses some of the sensors would drive me bat shit crazy.

there is a point of convergence where activity trackers turn into smartwatch at which point they make a lot more sense IMO.
the pebble i had was really cool (basic, but cool) but ultimately i just dont like having anything on my wrist. im sure ill give it another shot sometime.
home automation integration and auto phone unlocking are two pretty slick applications for them

honestly the pebble is still superior to most of the stuff out there. small, light, battery lasts forever, always on, readable in all light.

In other news, i got a refund for my coin preorder. Yea, it was a pretty stupid idea in the first place but i wanted to be apart of that dicounted early adopter group. They are way behind schedule at this point and probably pretty useless. At least they will be if they can ever get apple pay and google wallet working and running. I also realized i only have one or two cards and i wouldnt be comfortable not carrying them in case something happened with the coin so no real point in even having it.
I bet coin goes under before they ever get their product completely rolled out.

Coin is dead, without chip and pin. Look at plastc, of ypu are still interested in this concept. Has chip and pin which will be required by end of 2015 for all CC.

Yeah, I cancelled mine the other day too actually.
I still like the concept since I feel the adoption of google wallet, or whatever they do come up with, will take time.
