When I went to get my first car loan they pre-approved me at the prime rate with a minimal credit history (which the guy told me is an offer they extend to all JMU grads because of their partnership with the school.) Their rates are always very low, the only better ones I have seen are through USAA. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-23-2015 While we are talking about cheap car loans, I suggest PenFed. I just did a home renovation and to help pay for it I looked around at a couple options. Turned out you can take an existing car that is paid off and use PenFeds Used Car Loans that are only 1.9%. Was easy, their online portal is surprisingly good and they were clear with communication. All you have to do to join is put $10 in a checking account with them, you can get your $10 back at the end. (referral to be able to do that, just use my name). Also they don't have mileage or year limitations. And no penalties for paying it off early. Was arly. And do what with your car? Take another loan out? I feel like you left out a step here. Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 09-23-2015 I'm guessing use your paid for car as collateral for the loan. However right as I was buying the corvette was when we decided to renovate the house. After seeing "renovation loans" and using equity of the house, a 1.9% car loan actually is cheaper even after tax breaks. I bought the car with cash, but then turned around and called PenFed and pulled out a loan on it. I had to send them my title, and then you get it back once you pay off the loan. I was suggesting PenFed for 1.9% for all the guys putting loans on their cars. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 09-23-2015 I'll be another +1 for PenFed and I think Joey has used them as well. I didn't do some complicated thing like DJ but just used their car loan as a car loan for the Denali. Got a good rate (2.2 or something?) and they were really easy to work with. The no age or mileage limit is great, although the rate can/does go up if the vehicle is over a certain number. I think I couldn't get the lowest rate because it had over 100k or something. Love you buddy, but I am specifically referring to used cars with no mileage or year limits. 1.99% for PenFed. I haven't found a better rate. New cars? 60 months? Never mentioned it, no need to get defensive bud  Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 09-30-2015 http://jalopnik.com/is-mazdas-sports-car-concept-the-new-rx-7-weve-been-wai-1733761746 Oooo, my tralala ![]() My ding ding dong.
