All my shit was on Vanguard.... until Amazon moved their 401k to Fidelity. All my non-retirement, including ETF, mutual funds, and individual stock holdings, are still there.

Ally.com Roth IRA

RE: Stock Market Thread - BLINGMW - 06-10-2020

Yup, I'm out. Things are bouncing off SMA 200 so clearly I'm not alone. GLW is the only one that didn't and I probably shouldn't sell, but I'll take my 28% for this year and maybe come back this Nov when we know more about the election and if coronavirus is back for another round.

RE: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 06-10-2020

Meanwhile, in Amazonia...

I'm in the process of rolling over my Google 401k to Amazon, so I'd be okay with the market correcting before I redeposit the cash. Also, why are paper check rollovers a requirement?

RE: Stock Market Thread - BLINGMW - 06-11-2020

Yikes, sorry I apparently triggered an avalanche.  Blush

RE: Stock Market Thread - Sijray21 - 06-12-2020

i was playing around with buying individual stocks about a month and a half ago. I was up about 20% and just sold everything (only put $1000 in) on Tuesday at open based on someone i was following for advice. He mentioned that a lot of congressmen sold an unusually large amount of stock on Monday, so i followed suit. I'm glad i did, but the only thing i learned was that i have a LOT more to learn before i do that again.

I have $150 in my eTrade account and no idea what to do with it

I didn't start too far from that, either place a big bet on a company you like, or buy into an index fund. I would suggest XLU with low expense ratio and decent yield, and people need electricity.

Be brave and spend it all on ALK.  Cool

But seriously, google low expense index funds and read a bunch about them. Then pick one based on where you'd like to put your money (e.g. large cap, small cap, tech, medical, etc.).

I wouldn't put it in an individual company if you want to make sure it doesn't fall off a cliff. At not right now.

Counterpoint he'd have almost 300 bucks if he bought boeing 5 days ago and sold day before yesterday

That's not how any of this is supposed to work... but I'm not complaining.

Earnings in 10 days, which is why I think everyone's been buying in. I predict record revenue, lower than expected earnings... because that's what they always announce.

RE: Stock Market Thread - HAULN-SS - 07-13-2020

My average buy-in was 2597..trying to decide whether to take out ahead of earnings or not. I had one share at $1926. but didn't have enough cash to buy more than that at the time

RE: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 07-13-2020

I think it's a hold for 2020, as physical retail ain't making any sort of comeback this year.

RE: Stock Market Thread - WRXtranceformed - 07-14-2020

Originally had 5 shares of AMZN at $1535 before the initial crash, stop loss triggered at $2050 so I made some tendies but do wish I still had those. It doesn't hurt that bad though because I used that profit and some of the principle to buy a bunch of MSFT on the literal bottom dollar it hit during the deepest day of the drop. That's made me a massive return, and I wanted a dividend paying stock to hold for the long run anyway.

Picked up "day trading" for fun during this pandemic and so far have made 40%+ just dicking around Smile

RE: Stock Market Thread - BLINGMW - 09-04-2020

Speaking of day trading I couldn't stay away, put in a bet on KCAC this morning. Come on baby!

RE: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 10-12-2020

So glad I bought ZM and PTON like I said I was going to back in March. Except I didn't because I'm chicken shit.

Stock Market Thread - ViPER1313 - 10-12-2020

Waiting until December and January when everyone is shitting a brick again.

Might miss the vaccine bump if you really that long. I'm keeping in what I have now, but gonna hedge the proceeds from selling my house into cash until I see a dip

RE: Stock Market Thread - Apoc - 10-12-2020

I've seen some talk that Wall St is higher on a Biden presidency that another Trump term. It'll be interesting to see that all plays out with vaccine, seasonal illness, etc.
