Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 08-21-2015 Yeah but everyone has Aston Martins, there's like 40 of them every time I go to the Katie's car show. I have yet to see a 6x6 G63, I really think its the only option as your next vehicle with your exclusivity requirement. You don't want to half ass it and end up at a stoplight next to someone in the same Aston/Jag/Raptor/Range Rover/Mercedes/SRT. Unthinkable. 8) Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-21-2015 WRXtranceformed Wrote:$650K buys me an entire garage full of Aston Martins. And the garage itselfTry $895k - $975k for preowned example. http://www.jamesedition.com/cars/merced ... ale-887502 Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 08-21-2015 Definitely a case of "you could build it for that" Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-21-2015 Just FYI, Fords have always been hugely heavy. The weight loss on them got them to GM/Chevy standards. I have heard if a lot of quality issues with the new GMs though which is a shame, I loooooveee GMC sierra dually. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-21-2015 my best friend just bought a 2015 Chevy 1500. It's nice inside and out and I think he is getting near 26mpg highway thanks to cylinder shutoff. He has put a ton of miles on it in the month he has had it and no problems yet. I'll report back if anything comes up. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-21-2015 Interesting write up on the cost to run a race team in the IMSA Tudor Prototype Series. About a million bucks for 1 season. ![]() http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/this-is-h ... 1724802119 Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 08-22-2015 Maybe I should just forget practicality and go with my gut in a few years: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/one ... ewall.html Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-22-2015 Now you're thinking with your head Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-03-2015 Jaguar is now offering 5 years of free maintenance (transferable once) and they're lowering prices by a bit across the board. Good stuff coming from Jag lately. Kinda interested in seeing what the production F-Pace looks like because the concept was gorgeous. Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 09-03-2015 Wow I wish I got on board with that! Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-08-2015 Sooo C&D did the 2015 Lightning Lap at VIR, and the C7 Z06 posted the second fastest lap EVER. Not only that, but it was only 1.5 seconds a lap slower than the Porsche 918. The 918 costs about 10 times as much as the Z06 and only has a 1.5 second advantage over a pretty long lap at VIR Grand East. That is insane to say the least. To me what it says is that maybe the approach Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren took with their hypercars was just, wrong. All of those cars are fairly heavy because of the battery packs. Had they gone for the extreme lightest weight with the highest downforce and horsepower possible, I'm thinking they might have ended up being faster cars. Gordon Murray (designer of the McLaren F1) said as much. ![]() http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7- ... g-lap.html Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 09-08-2015 Wow, I am surprised to see it outperforming both of the Vipers. It's kind of sad and surprising to see my XFR down that far low on the list, about equivalent to a 2011 Mustang GT Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 09-08-2015 WRXtranceformed Wrote:It's kind of sad and surprising to see my XFR down that far low on the list, about equivalent to a 2011 Mustang GT Is it? I'm not really thinking "lap times" when I see an XF lurking around town. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 09-08-2015 Agree with Joey. Putting luxo-cruisers in a contest with "street" race cars and hyper cars is stupid. So many commoners in them. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-08-2015 JPolen01 Wrote:Agree with Joey. Putting luxo-cruisers in a contest with "street" race cars and hyper cars is stupid. It's not really a contest between luxo cars and hypercars. Just a way to see how everything shakes out in the scheme of things. That way you can compare your XFR to a M5 or BRZ to Miata if you like, or 458 vs 650S if that's what you're interested in. The Mustang GT, AMG GT-S, and Z06 all had impressive showings for me. I wonder where the GT350R will fall next year, in addition to other new stuff like the 570S, NSX, 488, Cayman GT4, GT3RS, etc. Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 09-08-2015 these cars only go out for a single lap, correct? with the vette's recent reports of boost cut on track as a result of massive heat soak, i wonder how much of that number is a lot of "ringer" induced shock and awe, but without any real foundation under it if the next laps after it are 5-10 seconds down. don't get me wrong, still utterly pants-shitting for a showroom stock car that you can buy with attainable money, but i've gotta wonder. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 09-08-2015 I think they take them for multiple laps but take the best time for the article. Basically a giant TT session for every car they list. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 09-08-2015 G.Irish Wrote:Obviously. That's why I was saying that Lee's comparison is not really a comparison.JPolen01 Wrote:Agree with Joey. J Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-08-2015 Yeah they did say that the GT3 held up the best over multiple laps. No fade, no issues, consistent hard lapping. I too would be worried about the Z06's overheating issues, to the point that I wouldn't buy a C7 Z06. Maybe in the mid cycle refresh they'll address all of those issues owners have been having. But like you said, even though it's a one-lap wonder, it'd be the best lap of your life (as far as street cars go). But my position remains, fuck a Z06, buy a Radical. |
