Re: Project: neglected E36 - getfast - 02-02-2012

Should I start a new thread? This M3 kinda rocks. Got K1's/235 Star Specs, alternator (preventatively - old one was noisy), waterpump/thermostat (preventatively), plugs (due at 120k), inspection, alignment... soon to be oil change and diff drain & fill. Put nearly 3500 miles on it so far with no issues, almost 126k now. Drove it to Daytona and back last weekend, even. Here it is on le dyno: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucE6uc_28IA

Not much else to report. I may start modding the hell out of it once the GTI gets here in a few weeks, we'll see.

Oh and the green 325i lives on, I saw it last night! I really should get him to come here and continue this thread. Now it doesn't have a headliner, but it's got big swaybars, and he friggin washed it :?:

Re: Project: neglected E36 - Jake - 02-02-2012

Yezz, new thread time! Although it'd be great to have the new green car owner come and post here too!

His name is Jeff, he is good people and he has been pointed to this thread

Re: Project: neglected E36 - getfast - 11-09-2012

Thread back from the dead. Jeff HPDE'd this car all year:

Then recently traded it toward Nick Hadiaris' almost complete Spec3 racecar (a black sedan.) But Nick just got an E39 M5 so he probably doesn't care much about this green car. Long story short... well really a question... should I buy it back? Hahahaha. I sorta miss it.

I have one that's much prettier for sale soon...

Re: Project: neglected E36 - getfast - 11-09-2012

I think your car might be too pretty for my needs/goals

Yeah, something tells me "fine Corinthian leather" is not one of your priorities.

Re: Project: neglected E36 - getfast - 11-09-2012

If it had fine Corinthian swaybars, maybe

Re: Project: neglected E36 - getfast - 11-15-2012

So, uh, sorry Jake... I brought home a blue lady instead?

Jon, that's one of the sexiest E36 M3s I've seen. Nicely done.

Re: Project: neglected E36 - Jake - 11-15-2012

In all seriousness, Avus is one of my favorite M colors (next to Technoviolet) and that's a pretty clean-looking example. What's the story on it?

Re: Project: neglected E36 - JPolen01 - 11-15-2012

That thing looks cleeeeeean

7/95 production so almost the last of the S50/OBD1 cars. Avus blau over dove gray, US spec but euro delivery, was kept in Germany for the first few years then spent most of the remaining ones in the DC area. Pretty original and never wrecked or painted as far as I can tell other than part of the passenger door, but don't let the jPhone pics fool you, it actually looks much worse in person - definitely a "20 foot" car with plenty of minor cosmetic issues.

114k miles, two? owners with many but not all records, plenty of recent service, runs and drives fine, needs little stuff (doesn't any reasonably priced E36?)... has fresh Konis/H&R sports, B&B catback, probably illegal tint. Manual non heated vaders, no sunroof, no cruise, etc.

Have put a couple hundred miles on it since purchase with no issues. Thinking this one will be the track/autoX car and the silver sedan will be the daily beater. But not sure yet!

Re: Project: neglected E36 - .RJ - 11-16-2012

Jon, that looks hot. I dig it.

I have shiny new thing itch pretty bad, and those pics do not help me. I swore I'd never own another E36 but....

Re: Project: neglected E36 - Jake - 11-16-2012

Butbut clear corners?! Oh the inhumanity. Can you handle them?

Re: Project: neglected E36 - SlimKlim - 11-16-2012

Yesssssssss, you've come back to the dark side.

Re: Project: neglected E36 - .RJ - 11-16-2012

I like the clear corners. Rice for life.

This.

Re: Project: neglected E36 - SlimKlim - 11-16-2012

I love clear corners (I have those same lights) but if I was going to rock amber on purpose, it would be on Avus or Fern green. Some E46 people retrofit amber lights on the Oxford green cars.
