Dammit, dont :?: me.

In reference to Mike's "need" comment about your comment about truck/trailer.

- Chris - 09-02-2004

:?:

- .RJ - 09-02-2004

Dammit, and I'm the one that cant read.

Recap: Mike asked why Chad needed a truck and trailer. I said convenience.

Its convenient to not have to change wheels/tires on the car when you get there or picking up nails in your track tires if you're driving on them to the track, not have to unload it, not have to unpack all your shit, worry about all your shit getting wet/dirty, have a place to take a nap, or pack it all back up at the end of the weekend - just unload the car off the trailer.

Hopefully by end of next year I will be towing also. I wouldnt tow from NoVa to Summit, but everywhere else I would.

more convenient to hop in the car and go...

edit: read the rest and yeah... i could see towing elsewhere.. it is also insurance that you can get home. but to summit?

- Evan - 09-02-2004

I think im out on this event.
Might come to hang on sunday though

Spending a couple hours attatching your trailer, lining it up with the car, risk bending the car up loading it on the trailer, loading the truck up, the extra gas a v8 burns on the way to the track, cruise at lower speeds, and have to do all the same stuff on sunday night when you just want to go home on sunday is NOT more convenient.
ANd if you would stop being a donkey, and start driving on street tires you wouldnt have to mess with changing tires garbage

Uh, well I for one don't want to drive to summit on my r compunds. I also Don't want to stuff 4 r compounds in the back of my car again, the drive to VIR BLEW. Plus once I get said tires in the car there's nowhere for me to put anything! I'm driving a v8 either way, so that argument's out. Oh and the truck can be packed and car can be on said trailer the night before so all that needs be done is load up the cooler and hop in and take off, once I get to the track, drive off the trailer and onto the track. Also changing back to street tires after that last session of the day, I almost burnt off my fingers, those lugs were HOT! Plus the carbotech XP10's BLOW for street driving and I ain't changing pads at the track unless I have to, same goes for using a jack to change tires. I bought a lift for a reason dammit Smile.

So I'll be showing up on the back of a 16' Full Metal deck trailer, pulled by a 04 F150 Extended Cab Short Bed with the Carbotech pads installed and RA1's mounted and car cleaned out ready to rock, plus all tools and comforts needed for a wonderful weekend at the track, after having a nice comfy ride wrapped in 'quiet steel'. Now we got everything all figured out.

- Evan - 09-03-2004

So drive on street tires. You arent racing, HPDE on r-tires is just pissing money away. (even more than we already do on this hobby...)

Im certainly not against towing to the track, I just dont think its more convenient. It is definately worth it for the saftey aspect, but at least for me, all the hassle that comes along with it just doesnt make it worth it.

but I cant afford a brand new truck anyway Tongue

- Chris - 09-03-2004

awesome Chad. I say if you can manage and afford all that, then go all the way.

- .RJ - 09-03-2004

At $100/set for hankooks and toyos, I might even be coming out cheaper than Falkens.

Used... F150, 5.4L V8, under $9K. I want to tow for all the reasons I listed. Its more expense, but then again we didnt start doing this shit to save money anyways.

Im not sure if you are high, or just arent good at math, but $100 set of tires that lasts 2 events (and unusable in the rain) are not cheaper than a $250 set of tires that last 10 events and do great in the rain for 8 of them.

yes, I was referring to Chad's new F150.

Used Gen 1 Lightning, definitely under $9k. Tows like a dream too, AND you can track it 8)

Best of the both worlds, and it is a truck enthusiasts go for.

- Dragon - 09-03-2004

Who was it that once said "Your tow vehicle shouldn't be faster than your track car"
