.RJ Wrote:First ride! Did some highway time and some stop and go into arlington - no issues, and the bike ran very well. Brakes and handling leave something to be desired, but thats to be expected Smile The plugs looked a little lean after the ride, so I swapped in some larger jets and I'll go from there. I also need to get something a little more visible for the rear tail light, and perhaps turn signals.

Instead of the larger jets, try raising the needle.

- .RJ - 06-21-2008

I can change jets without removing the carbs Wink I've already raised them up a notch when I put them together though.

- PGK - 06-21-2008

Yeah, but changing main jet sizes only really affects fueling at WOT. I'm guessing you haven't spent 100% of the time riding it at WOT....

- .RJ - 06-22-2008

Is there any other way?

- PGK - 06-22-2008

seriously though, change the needle height for partial throttle tuning. Also, plug reading is so old school. Get an EGA.

hmm... I wasn't really feeling the gold either, but the bike looks pretty darn good in those pics

maybe this will come off ricey - but since its a "cafe racer" what about a number on the tank, I'm thinking envisioning a black number with a red circle around it - maybe a 5

I dunno that could look good....

I'm normally not a fan of those older bikes - I'm kind of a ricer when it comes to bikes, I guess. But that thing looks awesome.

That bike looks really bad. As in 'not good'. Actually, it looks awful and tawdry--instead of stripped down it's bulked up.

Yup, I just used it to illustrate a point. 59 club, ace cafe, etc, etc.

After more deliberation I think this one is the win. Scotty, I'll get you dimensions soon...

Should it wrap around the top of the tank and meet in the middle on both sides, or just cover the sides of the tank?

Smaller stripes?

I think this would give a neat effect viewed from the top as well.

that could be a bitch to line up, but if you really take your time it should be cool. do you still like the idea of basing the center of the sun off of your tank emblem (i see you took the emblem off)?

in the mockup image i had the rays fading off as it wrapped around, i think after seeing it again solid is the way to go.

- .RJ - 06-26-2008

The emblem is curved, and the tank is flat... I just need to put another layer of tape on there and stick it back on Smile
