- Evan - 11-07-2007 any online speed test should give you latency. speakeasy.net, dslreports.com mine is typically 100-400ms slightly lower if your towers have rev. A - HAULN-SS - 11-07-2007 yeah, that's waht i'm saying, I was getting between 100 and 120 yesterday..but I wasn't sure if that is the same kind of latency I'd get to the game servers. before I plunk down 50$ on the game, it'd be nice to know if I'd ping somewhere in the 100 - 150 range during actual gameplay. I am not sure if they are rev. A towers..and I'm not really sure why it's so much faster with Sprint than Verizon..they gotta be using the same towers right? - Evan - 11-07-2007 Sprint and Verizon do not share a data network. (Sprint and alltell do though) At least not yet. Data is Sprint's cash cow right now and they are way ahead of the pack in coverage area and speed so they arent going to share for a while. The new sprint software should tell you if youre connected to rev A. It sucks only slightly less than the old software. (but at least it jacks your wifi software too) Since Sprint deployed their EVDO network long before Verizon did they got all the good spots on the existing towers. Oh, and I think they are throttling my connection all of the sudden. I used to get 1.5mb in downtown DC, now I struggle to get 700kbps, and I cant even stream 192k mp3 stream without it breaking up. - HAULN-SS - 11-07-2007 hrmm..well that's good to know. Especially since it's the same cost. verizon was like...1.5x dialup. My sprint seems to be somewhere around 10x dialup speeds. I haven't tried it in any downtown or metro area yet..i'm just glad it's good out where I live. My next option was sattelite, which is 10$ more a month, probably for similar speeds. - mrbaggio - 11-07-2007 Just ping a TF2 server from the command prompt. Who else has TF2? I play almost daily. - HAULN-SS - 11-08-2007 CoD4 is amazing, by the way. I just got to play it last night. I really like that it remembers your stats during multi-player. The weapons/sounds/graphics are amazing. The hitboxes seem to be spot on, and the damage is realistic. If you take one in the chest, you're dead. I really like the skills that you can customize your player with. Last stand is pretty awesome. If you get hit, you have like 10s to take out our pistol while you're laying on the ground and get the guy that ran up behind you and killed you. The sniper weapons with extra bullet penetration is awesome. It seems like they did a good job of mapping materials so that the things you can shoot through are actually things you would be able to shoot through. - WRXtranceformed - 11-08-2007 I definitely want to check out that game. I'll probably trade in GRAW2 on it, I haven't had as much fun with GRAW2 as I'll probably have with COD4. Does anyone know where you can pick up those cables that attach to your XBOX and allow you to game in 1080p? I looked at Best Buy yesterday but couldn't find any. My friend had one and it looked pretty sweet. It's not the component cables (the red, blue, green ones) but it's a completely separate cable. - CaptainHenreh - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:I definitely want to check out that game. Like this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ Or are you talking about HDMI? - WRXtranceformed - 11-08-2007 Yep that's the one, thanks Rex =) I'll just have to keep my eyes open at Best Buy or wherever for it. HDMI would be nice, but my particular XBOX isn't one of the ones with the HDMI input. - CaptainHenreh - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Yep that's the one, thanks Rex =) I'll just have to keep my eyes open at Best Buy or wherever for it. You should send an IM to Jeff, he can find all kinds of weird shit. - JustinG - 11-08-2007 yea im runnin the VGA cable on my setup since my 360 was one of the first ones and didn't have HDMI. Its great, it gives you 1080p picture if the game is capable of it. WAY WAY WAY better than the component hookup. Mean while ill be waiting for a few weeks for my 360 to come back, CD drive went ka put. And we reserved COD4 so that depressing, and we wanted to pick up Ace of Combat 6. All i have right now is Wii, which IMO is a horrible console for gaming that doesn't involve alcohol. - WRXtranceformed - 11-08-2007 Cool... do you remember how much it cost? - CaptainHenreh - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Cool... do you remember how much it cost? You know... Since you're on a binge spending spree and you just bought a big fuckin' TV, go buy a new 360 and go with HDMI. Cable included! ![]() It looks amazing on my TV (my "shitty" TV according to Jeff.) - WRXtranceformed - 11-08-2007 The new HDMI 360s come with the cable included? I didnt' know that. And nah, I'm not trying to be THAT wasteful  Maybe I'll do my Walmart return scheme on a HDMI'd 360 the next time this one breaks. - CaptainHenreh - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:The new HDMI 360s come with the cable included? I didnt' know that. My Elite did. I assume they all do. Probably a poor assumption. - WRXtranceformed - 11-08-2007 Oh I honestly don't know. Someone told me that even the standard ones have HDMI inputs right now, but I dunno if that's true. That would be nice if they came with the cables.... HDMI cable ain't cheap. - CaptainHenreh - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Oh I honestly don't know. Yeah, all the "new" XBoxes have HDMI...and a new mainboard/cpu/gpu. (except the elites, they have HDMI, but the "old" mainboard/cpu/gpu). - Maengelito - 11-08-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Oh I honestly don't know. HDMI cable ain't cheap. i dont know if the xbox 360 uses HDMI -> HDMI fittings, but i bought a pair of 6' HDMI cables from a store listed on slickdeals for like $10 shipped - Mike - 11-09-2007 CaptainHenreh Wrote:WRXtranceformed Wrote:The new HDMI 360s come with the cable included? Google... - Kaan - 11-09-2007 CaptainHenreh Wrote:It looks amazing on my TV (my "shitty" TV according to Jeff.) My Elite came with the HDMI cable too i think... i know i didnt buy it. Rex doesnt like playing on a non HD tv
