not saying it'll be the end all be all of competitive spec racing, but its probably the next one which is what dj was asking about.

i think he was referring more to the next BIG hit... like miata. shoot, nasa comes up with a new spec series every year. 944 has worked, e30 has worked, neon has failed, se-r has failed, honda challenge is failing, i think there was a weak attempt at a focus one? i see e36 failing mainly because e30 exists.

Mike Wrote:but again it'll be won by the best cheater and/or the richest person who can drive halfway decently. that doesn't excite me much... same thing has happened to honda-challenge.

That is both a bold and very negative statement to make. Do you actually race?

I have won many Spec Miata races with a cheap and legal car. I take these types of statements personally because when I started racing NASA, everyone accused me having a cheater car. Well, that was settled last race at VIR when I was the only legal car of the top 5. It is easy to make excuses for lack of talent and lack of experience by making a blanket statement like that, but you will only end up alienating yourself from the people that are fast and could actually help you get faster. Smile

I apologize for generalizing. I was mainly referring to SCCA "pro" racing w/ the Spec Miata thing, but you unintentionally proved my point... 1/5 of the top 5 in NASA (running for a cheap little trophy) was legal... That's goofy. Congrats to you... I appeciate that, but you're clearly not the norm. Hopefully more frequent inspections will make things "good" again. Honda-Challenge (my asipiration) has become very much of a bucks thing (H1) in recent years... I'm a little bitter.

It's in my future plans, I'm waiting for the final rules to come out. I'm hoping the won't be too much different form the BMWCCA spece36 class so there can be some crossover.

I turned in my subaru today for a Malibu. That's all.

Much like:

oh. :|

- Hunter - 04-13-2008

Any particular reason for the switch? :dunno:

- HAULN-SS - 04-13-2008

Cheap money abounds. subaru was about 2k out of drivetrain warranty,THis has 100k warranty, better gas mileage with the malibu, cheaper insurance and i'm trying to save some $$$ to get a 2009 Camaro

I can't believe no one has posted on this yet...

Ive never ridden or driven a Malibu but the automotive press is raving over the new car, so it seems like a good choice to me

It's not too bad. I got a 1lt, which has enough perks to keep me satisfied during my 2 hours + of commuting every day. It rides really good, and with traction control OFF it handles halfway decently. Obviously it's a dog off the line, but i have to keep reminding myself I'm getting 30mpg and not putting premium in it. I am figuring 115$ a month savings all said and done. Shit it doesnt have that im going to miss: Leather, Heated Seats, boost. That's about it really. The stereo is way better than my legacy had, the XM/Mp3 deck is a bonus, it's got a lot more room, and the seats are pretty comfortable for cruising.

It does have some bads though: The key location is right next to the wiper lever. I have hit that a couple times. There's also a moulded plastic Right angle stab you in the ass piece that has got me a couple times getting in the car. It also really needs more gears in the transmission - i heard theres a 6 speed auto in the works, but I only have a 4 speed in mine.

Stuff I looked at that this beat out: Base legacy, base 300, base altima, base impala, base charger.

Solstice/Sky platform just got canned. Sad
and so did the coupe derivative

that is an unbelievable shame. i think they really could have hit some gold with the coupe -- the public reaction was really positive.

if it wasn't for the poor storage space this platform would have been even more successful.

wow, i can't believe that..the profit margins must have been terrible, because it seems like you see them all over
