Rex and Julie need to know what to do to the turkey, we're going to buy it monday morning.

They need to be FULLY defrosted 24hrs prior to coming to RJ's (a frozen turkey will usually take 72hrs to defrost) also the should be NO larger than 14.5lbs. Once defrosted (24hrs prior to party) it needs to be patted dry inside AND out. After patting it dry the outside should be liberally rubbed down with SEASALT (NOT Tablesalt). If they have a flavor injector I can add some more steps otherwise I'll take care of that at RJ's. Also I would like the turkeys at RJ's at 5pm (instead of the start time of 6pm) so I can start frying them.

Ok, so I'm gonna come up for this one! What do Sylvia and I need to bring? She wants to make something.

Why do they need to be fully defrosted 24 hours before? As long as it's fully defrosted what the difference?

b/c even though they may appear to be defrosted on the outside when you drop a 14lb turkey into 350* hot oil, it usually still finds liquid and will make a BIG mess.

- Apoc - 12-03-2006

Well then it wouldn't be fully defrosted then would it? Maybe you should have said that it "needs to appear to be fully defrosted 24 hours prior because chances are you don't know what fully defrosted is."

- Feersty - 12-03-2006

I'm in folks, I can bring my Carolina BBQ and Salt and Pepper chips again!

Maybe if the post was intedend for you I would have said that, but it wasn't.

Yes. Bring a 30 pack of coors light cans too.

- white_2kgt - 12-03-2006

Anyone coming up from the 'burg, can you get my Hoodie and T-Shirt from Ryan or Pete (not sure which one has it) and bring it to the party?

.RJ Wrote:What we need:

* Beer - lots of beer
* Stuff to make margaritas with - I have *one* bottle of tequila - for the uninitiated, this also includes sour mix, OJ, triple sec, and rose's lime. Everything but the triple sec is available at the grocery store.
* More Beer
* Soda, Cups
* If you have friends coming, ask them to bring a few bucks to chip in for food and alcohol - we can always make another run to the liquor store before they close

Also -

Rex brings up the idea of making Pina Coladas as well... that one is fairly simple. Handle of rum, and a few bottles of those pina colada mixers. I dont get creative with those. Whos in for that?

Edit: Who is bringing guests?

I have a whole unopened bottle of triple sec, I'll bring that as well. I don't think christina and the baby are coming, even if they are, they won't be drinking, somebody will have to drive ME home if they do!

- Maengelito - 12-04-2006

hey john, i've got your two hoodies and hat. will jess be coming? if so, i think jenn might wanna come as well. RJ, is there a guest room available or anything like that?

i'll bring big blue stocked with red bull and some beers

- Mike - 12-04-2006

i've got (or bj has) a bottle of aristocrat that needs to go before i guzzle it during my typical druken antics.

- Kaan - 12-04-2006

i'm not allowed to drive home after this party like i did last year. One of the dumber stunts i've pulled... who is brave enough to take my keys away from me?

- Jewels - 12-04-2006

I'll take your keys from you Kaan, I'm not afraid.

- Kaan - 12-04-2006

yeah you win... damnit!

- Mike - 12-04-2006

i'll throw some bows too.

- CaptainHenreh - 12-05-2006

I went all over this fucking shit town and didn't find a single goddamn turkey under 14 lbs.

I did find a number of turkey breasts...will those work equally well?

- Ginger - 12-05-2006

Who has the MM Pong table? I'm hoping to coordinate getting that to Jeff by Saturday so he can bring it up with him.

- John - 12-05-2006

We'll be there late, probably around 10 or so... is there anything you all may need for me to contribute?
