I've become way too familiar with these pictures Big Grin

Looking good man, keep it up!

So whats the advantage of this electric fan, just engine cooling?? Looks like another addition I could spend more money on

Chris Wrote:So whats the advantage of this electric fan, just engine cooling??

less parasitic loss, probably lighter.

And, for me in particular, clearance issues with the clutch fan.

- HAULN-SS - 05-02-2006

I installed an electric fan in my SS, and it kept the engine dramatically cooler than the clutch fan did. I think its because they're usually bigger, and are mounted right up against the radiator

*sigh*

I did find a source for my brake booster. Now I just need 2 or 3 hundred dollars for the last parts order.

I'll help fund E30 nonsense, need a 10% monthly interest loan? Big Grin Or, you can just let me track it when you're done. Tongue

Well, the biggest help would be to help me find the cheapest source for parts on my "list". Then I just have to wait for Sheetz to mail me my tuition reimbursement check, and the build can start.

Dad's leveling gravel for the garage this week, and I think some guys are supposed to come pour and wire next week.

looking for new factory parts, aftermarket, or used stuff? what's left?

- CaptainHenreh - 08-11-2006

The only thing that's left is new, factory parts. I've got a spreadsheet full of partnumbers and descriptions, but the main ones are:

E28 535i motor mounts (late)
Flywheel Bolts
Transmission bolts
Harness conectors (Engineside from 87 325es, bodyside from 1995 525i)
Harness pins
VC Gasket, oil pan gasket, rear main seal
fan mounting brackets
Center carrier bearing
Probably a new pair of guibos
Clutch
Clutch line (mine was cut)
heated leather dickwarmer.

Is it the updated model that didn't require you to unzip?

I call shenanigans -- Honda drivers do not have penises.

- CaptainHenreh - 08-14-2006

Ordered the engine mounts and brake booster today.

So, in theory, I could put the engine in the car now.

- CaptainHenreh - 08-19-2006

Pictures forthcoming of the 10+ lbs of shit I pulled out of my trunk.

Yes, more shit coming out of the trunk, this time that asphalt-lead crap that had turned my trunk rust-colored. I filled a cat littler bucket with it. Julie took the buffer and polished the paint a little, it looks alot better than it did.

So, yes.

fun times there Rex...did you dry ice it? glad to hear its really coming along

- PDenbigh - 08-20-2006

Rex,

I scored some eBay coilspakcs, so I'll get your stuff back to you. Should I just drop it off at your dad's place?

ScottyB Wrote:fun times there Rex...did you dry ice it? glad to hear its really coming along

We actually didn't need to dry ice it. It came out fairly easily with a crowbar and some chisels. It was rusted in some places so all we had to do was get under the tar and peel it up. It came up really easily, we did like half the trunk in like half an hour. We would have done more but it hurts your back leaning into a trunk.

And Pete, yeah just dropping the stuff off back at Rex's parents house is fine. We appreciate you testing them for us. Smile
