Someone on Jalopnik today described the Model 3 as the perfect car for people who consume Soylent. I've never seen something so accurate. I hate it all. The technology is cool, but would be better executed in an interior that was actually designed. I'm aware that the above comments make me sound 85 years old and I don't care. The cost savings of that big screen can not be overstated. Initial R&D aside, they are saving the cost of manufacturing basically an entire interior and getting away with it. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: 2010 Range Rover Supercharged - Jake - 02-11-2018 Mileage: 103,850 I took the racecar over to Mach V on Friday, which was my first time pulling the enclosed trailer near-fully loaded (only missing my toolbox now) for any real distance. I had towed it, loaded with the M3, from my place to the storage lot with Tom. It was a super windy day and I wasn't using the weight distribution bars - we got some squirm at points. Thankfully, this longer drive was nearly perfect once I added the WD bars. My plan is to move the car back in the trailer to get some tongue weight back, as the toolbox will contribute to increasing it. I have about a foot of room behind the car given how it was loaded before, so that's easy to do. Anyway, it towed pretty well. Definitely easiest to leave it in Manual mode and shift for myself - or at least, in Sport so it will hold revs a bit longer between shifts. It only wants to stay in 6th gear on very flat ground, but 4th/5th work fine for most grades. Deren thinks the trailer is longer than 20' - maybe it's a 22? All the documentation I have from CargoPro lists it as a 20 though. The only big issue was parking the trailer at the end of the night. My new spot is next to a semi tractor, which I really didn't want to hit. Visibility is not great when backing, even with my old-man mirror extensions (which are great on the highway). I did eventually get it parked straight, without hitting anything, after much cursing. Had to put the front windows down because the drug-dealer tint the truck came with was too damn dark. Today, I removed the stupid tint and it's so much brighter inside! I was annoyed with the lack of nighttime visibility and it got dangerous with the trailer and/or rain involved, so this was time well spent. ![]() Adam did give me a moment of pause: ![]() The RR is due for its 105k mile service soon - the dash is doing a very good job of reminding me - so I'll either DIY it or send it over to Overland 4x4 as their quote was pretty reasonable. Might be busy with my new job starting right around this service being due so it could be worth just dropping it off for the day. We're coming up on 10k miles of ownership and all I've done is one oil change. Torque converter (ZF 6HP28) can and usually does lock in every gear. I'll definitely roll over the scales - aside from the tongue weight, it seems like a lot of people have success towing 20-24' enclosed with these and Touaregs/Cayennes. Should be good so long as I'm not trying to win the Route 29 drag races against Jim and Rob

I'm quite pleased. It is absolutely awful on fuel economy, which is my only real complaint. But I kind of knew that going into it. I have an appointment with Land Rover Alexandria on Tuesday for the passenger dash airbag recall (Takata, yay). My dashboard is leather-wrapped so I'm not sure what's involved in pulling the airbag. LR is going to put me in a loaner for the day, "and if we don't have any, we reimburse for Uber, Lyft, or an Enterprise rental, so don't worry." I like them already. I also need to make an appointment with Overland 4x4 for the 105k mile service, given that's coming up in short order. 2010 Range Rover Supercharged - GTBrandon - 02-15-2018 I know one of our members had their steering wheel trim all scratched up from the recall on their E46 M3 so maybe consider taking before pictures just in case.. That's a good idea. My E46 M3 had the passenger side done before I purchased it, and driver's side done under my ownership, and they did a fine job. But given this involves a lot of leather that is currently very nice, I will take a lot of photos. |
