The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Senor_Taylor - 12-21-2017

I'll stick to what MotorTrend does. Roadkill, Dirt Every day, Engine Masters. That's real car guy stuff.

It has always been a variety show with cars, especially in the later years. That's why non-car people like it too.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Jake - 12-22-2017

Dunno, I thought the third episode was their best yet. Wished the Stinger bit was longer and thought the office car park "racing" was pretty funny. I am enjoying how much they are ragging on Hammond for his crash, too.

I need to give new-new-Top Gear a shot as well. Didn't want to watch it with Chris Evans on the show, but I've heard other comments echoing DJ's so it's worth a try.

They got rid of Chris Evans in the last couple episodes, thank god.

I like the part where they said the back of the CTR looks terrible.

That guy sucks. Apart from having a bunch of money, and owning a bunch of cars, he doesn't seem to know anything about actually driving. Is Matt LeBlanc still on that show? Its been a while since I watched the new one.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Steve85 - 01-05-2018

Got pretty much caught up on the season and it's definitely better. It is great to see them be like "We got rid of that because you hated it". The celebrity face-off is ok, but it will depend a lot on the people they get. The guy with the bear was entertaining.

I thought the lunchtime race was a fun piece and the earlier piece where they drove through the same city 2-3 times was awful.

Like any show of this type, there will be episodes that hit and miss, but the foundation is better. Did I miss something or did they not introduce the new driver at all?? I looked her up, but I don't think they did anything to introduce her.

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JPolen01 - 01-05-2018

The lunchtime race was pretty funny. I was shocked they had both guys running at the same time on such a dangerous course. Are these professional drivers or are we supposed to believe they are just random office workers?

What Hammond did in the tank last night with the roundabout is what I fantasize about doing every time I come up on a roundabout

haha, same. I was also wondering the whole time how much their production costs were just for that segment (BMW he bumped into, roundabout, countless pylons, mall scene, etc.)

... every time I go to work.

Bruh how many anti-depressants was Kiefer Sutherland on?

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - Apoc - 01-23-2018

I'm all caught up and I think the show is pretty darn good nowadays. The rally history lesson really reminded me of the good ole days of Top Gear.

Agreed.  The rally episode was so good.  The guys are really starting to hit their stride again

I was sitting on my couch cackling at a few points.

The only way the whole thing would've been even better is if a fish came out of the tank in James' wagon and smacked him in the back of the head under braking.

Season 3 trailer just dropped:

RE: The Official Grand Tour Discussion Thread - SPOILER WARNING - JPolen01 - 11-27-2018

Am I the only one that gave up on this during the 1st season? Is it any good still?

Side note: I watched the first episode of The Gymkhana Files on Prime and that was really cool. Awesome behind the scenes story of how Ken Block and his team turned their first Gymkhana video into a viral sensation.

I think there is a cream for that.

Season 2 was better than 1 IMO.
