So, the truck sat all weekend. No battery issues. I'm going to confirm uhaul trailer wiring is shit.

Also, new cap is on. Doesn't seem to be leaking I think??... Did not notice anything at work or when I got home today. I can see a tiny bit of wetness where the cap touches the reservoir but nothing obvious dripping. Not sure if normal. I'll wipe down everything and mark coolant level with something like a dry erase marker.

Since I saw how bad Jake's pads were I checked mine. They are either replaced or going to last forever. Probably the former. Truck is at 60k miles so I wouldn't be surprised if they were replaced already.

Things I should do since I hit 60k miles and have no idea how the previous owner took care of the truck and I will be starting to tow a lot more are:

1. Replace transmission fluid
2. Replace transmission filter
3. Inspect or replace cabin filter
4. Replace transfer case fluid

Not looking forward to any of that because it's cold. The only thing I'm hoping is there will be enough room under the truck to not have to jack it up. We will see how lazy I am before someone tells me I should get my shit together.

Transynd for the Transmission, MAPerformance fluid for the transfer case, and then up to you what you want for the front and rear axle.

Tonneau covers are a hot topic among truck owners. Lots of choices, and each fit everyone's needs differently. I am partial to hard cover roll up for a long bed, but for a short bed, a BakFlip might be my choice to maximize space. Either way, get one ASAP. My mother's boyfriend is a brute and I am now waiting on a replacement cover piece for my tonneau cover; it is obnoxious not having one after I have had one for so long.

This is the third thing he has broken on my truck.....

Why not just use Dex VI? I'll just change it in another 30k for transmission and 60k for transfer case. Not doing anything crazy with the truck to need to pay for those.

Also, sure I was looking at Extang or the BakFlip covers. But, I still need a trailer... :lol:

I don't get you. You overspend on some things and cheap out on things that matter and then get yourself into interesting situations. Whatever :dunno:

I don't mind spending an extra couple bucks for a transmission that is worth more than your Mazda 3.

The dealer recommends Dex VI? Synthetics for severe duty. Why spend the extra? Serious question. As long as you properly change the fluid on interval... I will be towing like 5,500 pounds. I can understand when I'm approaching 10,000 pounds to buy the nicer fluid. Is it necessary?

It's not that I can't or won't spend the money I just don't see why I need it.

Came out today to drive the truck. Just noticed this. Yeh me. No idea how it got there. Don't remember any rocks hitting my truck last week at all.

I've had two vehicles that were way lower to the ground that have been hit rocks and never had their windshield cracked. Don't even remember anything hitting the truck and it gets cracked... Awesome.

Anyone recommendations for windshield replacement in Richmond? Going to get quotes but my $500 deductible should be cheaper than out of pocket.

I just did Safelite when this happened to me, they came and did it in my work parking lot and insurance covered everything 100%, i'm pretty sure most do.

EDIT: Just assumed you have comprehensive coverage and not collision, in which case they probably aren't helping.

Usually if your plan covers windshields the deductible is different.

After watching mine get done years ago, it looks like it's easy for it to rust if it's done poorly.

I can't speak to any experience with them, but Smiley's advertises on NPR all the time about that and how they make sure it's done properly so there's no rust etc.

Since he is in Virginia Windshields should just be a $100 deductible.

BTW - Surprised. My windshield is OEM and I have had stuff hit that I thought for SURE would have cracked it. It is really really thick, did you check if it's OEM?

You can also get the crack filled for like $50 by safelite. That's not very big. Also you live downtown. Weird shit happens downtown. I wouldn't assume that that necessarily happened while you were in the truck...

It's bigger than 6 inches. Close to a foot in length. So I can't repair it unfortunately. But yeah I'm going to assume something or someone did this while parked. Didn't notice it the last time I drove last week and I easily would have...

I'll look into everyone's suggestions. Not sure if OEM windshield. Will check with insurance agent on how to deal with it

After talking to my insurance agent I have to file a claim and pay the deductible. I pay for the $500 deductible option. I'll have to search around for quotes then from what people have recommended.

When I got a quote from Safelite online for CK 2500 since they don't have a 2500hd option it was just under $400. So if the CK 2500 is the same thing to Safelite as the 2500hd which it technically isn't then it looks like it may be cheaper overall to pay out of pocket...

It's OEM glass btw. It has the GM stamp on the passenger side. Still, really annoyed I have to deal with this shit. Bye bye one track weekend for the season.

That seems odd that you do not have a different deductible for windshields. I wouldn't both going through insurance if you have to pay $500.

That does seem odd - guess I and co-workers were lucky to pay nothing? (it was a particuarly bad winter that year and like 5 of us had to get windshield's changed.)

Agree with Jon though - not worth the claim if you're paying the same amount anyway.

I'd just get the crack filled. My mom had/has a similar crack on her VW windshield (same side and hers is longer) and our insurance didn't replace it. They only got it filled they didn't replace it. It caused my parents to switch insurance. Neither of them were happy about it. I asked them about it last night and we haves state farm now and my mom was saying it should be replaced completely if it happens again. The upside is getting is filled is cheap, passes inspection and even tho it's not back to 100% integrity it's still better than having it unfilled.
