How often do they run Big Boys? And that Axial is grade A badass.

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 04-15-2014

Thanks dude! I just call the guy that runs it whenever I want to go.

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 04-21-2014

So my build has took a small turn. Yesterday, me and a buddy went and picked up a complete XJ that was rolled with a Waggy 44 with a lock rite, chromos, high steer, and Warn lock outs and an 8.8 with an LSD. Both are loaded with 4.88s. We split the cost, I'm getting the axles and wheels, he's getting the rest. Axle swapping will start this week. Here is the donor rig and the Waggy 44...

The last thing I need to do is spend anymore money on this piece. BUT I hated the steering and I needed a legit track bar. So I made an order to Ruffstuff. Being poor sucks...

Eat ramen.. You're XJ is all you'll ever need.

Panhard kit or just some delicious DOM tube and joints?

I didn't get the entire panhard kit since my brackets should work. I ordered 30" of DOM and some Ruffstuff heims.

Put my upper link mount together and welded it on....

And then got 44 in...

At ride height, panhard bar is FLAT and the drag link is slightly at a negative angle. Any thoughts on this? I need to cycle through the suspension and see how that works out....

Axles are "in" as of this past Monday. Still need to get steering, pitman arm, and panhard bar figured out. Right now, they are a DISASTER...

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 06-19-2014

I've had about ZERO time to work on this thing. However, I should be damn near done this weekend. Got the WJ pitman arm clocked, track bar welded up and ready, steering is done as of last night. All I really got to do now is rebuild a frame side track bar mount and put new u joints in the axle.

One day I'll make jeep jam..

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 06-20-2014

Everything is in. After a test drive, it feels good, but I still need to do u joints and chase down 2 DIFFERENT rotational sounds. One sounds like the ball in the drive shaft is about to die. Also, need to get bump stops in.

Ruffstuff steering right? Looks good!!

Yessir, love it!

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 07-10-2014

Ok. So, I've hit issue after issue with my 44 swap, but I'm finally thinning it out. Pulled the shafts out to replace the u joints and found this on the driver side inner...

[Image: C1C3AC99-C63B-4D26-8806-F353A8230C71_zpsxw0ppyyz.jpg]

Yes, ^^^^ that's a chromo.

So I said **** it and called ECGS and had them send me some new ones so I'd have a warranty and I would know what I have.

OH! and in all this mess and confusion I also found I don't have a Waggy 44. It's a J10 front axle. Which is why ECGS has to custom cut one of the inner shafts.

All I have left to do is build a new frame side track bar mount, put new pads on the 8.8, get my new shafts in, and get some e brake cables. I also should mention I installed a set of Warn Premium hubs.

All in all, the swap is still worth it. Currently, I have $1750 in the 44/8.8 swap. I really don't think that's terrible, considering building a 44 alone is anywhere from $2500

Re: My Dumb 99' XJ Low Rider - ibjeepin95 - 07-27-2014

Long time, no update. However, work has been put in and it's drivable and wheelable! Balanced the tires with airsoft BB's and built a better track bar bracket (no pics) than the Rubican't Express mount. Got the new shafts in and installed....

I put some flares on the front. The front stuck out almost 8" past the fenders. VA law says no more than 4". I could maybe get away with it, but I really just rather not be hassled. It's right at 4" in the front now. I zip tied them on for quick disco action/ break away action WHEN a tree or rock rips them off No, I don't like them, but as long as I can drive it to wheel somewhere, I'll be happy
