Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-22-2013 BACK TO THE GARAGE WORK… f’n distractions Here is where the tire rack is going to go. (well really its already up there) I painted it with rustoleum gloss black. It has 12 deck screws holding it to the wooded joints… I might upgrade to lag bolts… who knows. ![]() YES… even with 15 inch rims falling through the door opens ![]() 5 heavy ass Eccos… when I loaded it with K1s and Eccos is started to pull apart in the middle, so I’ll be adding some chain or wire in there to make sure it doesn’t come apart. ![]() NOW ITS TIME FOR DANCE CLUB GARAGE! Measuring, measuring again, checking with stud finders, poking holes in the wall to make sure there aren’t wires in there, etc… it was a lot of work! ![]() I’ll be welding up a platform here for the receiver to go… this is the banana clip box… install. ![]() Polks are in ![]() Bose are in (honestly they better sound like awesome or I’m going to drop some polks in the ceiling instead… the ceiling mounting of bose is the suck. The polk have a very positive lock on the wall… these are hug in there with a strap (you supply it) across the back that holds onto the joists. ![]() THE MESS… we are still unpacking the garage ![]() ![]() The wall plate is in… and fishing the wires sucked. The walls are capped at the top with a 2x4 and the roof slopes down to that wall so it was a tight squeeze. ![]() Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - CaptainHenreh - 04-22-2013 Kaan Canturk...making everyone else look like bitches since 2013? Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Jake - 04-22-2013 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Kaan Canturk...making everyone else look like bitches since 2013? I thought you and I did that on Saturday. Project OontzOontz looks good, Kaan! Always liked how Polks sounded. You should get a used AirPort Express so you can stream the beats from your iPhone wirelessly. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-22-2013 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Kaan Canturk...making everyone else look like bitches since 2013? nah... this is where we spend a lot of time. If we didnt buy in the winter i would have the tile floors in... but since we did they will have to wait a long time. i'm fine with staining the concrete we have ![]() Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-23-2013 sound check was great... took a while to make sure everything was working right. the Polks sound better than the Bose. The Bose were very moody to effects while the Polks sounded great with anything. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Jeff - 04-23-2013 Bose are pretty straight laced no-nonsense music speakers. We have a set of old 901s that JAM as long as you don't ask them for thumping bass Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-23-2013 I'm not sold on Bose being that great anymore. It might be my old ass receiver so i'll reserve my judgement until the new multi room receiver is purchased. now that things are dialed in... we have to keep the volume down or no one will be able to hear each other in the damn garage. WHAT!? Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - JPolen01 - 04-24-2013 Are you sure it's the bose speakers and not the fact that they are mounted within the wall? I always heard that while mounting them in the wall looked nice, it wasn't great for sound. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-24-2013 The Bose speakers have their own "internal" box AND they are mounted in the ceiling. The ceiling requires a more complicated install but is ok according to Bose. Their sound range seems more limited (not just on the low side) and they distort easily. The polks are mounted in the wall, using the wall as their box, and sound much better and have better low and high range Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Jake - 04-24-2013 JPolen01 Wrote:Are you sure it's the bose speakers and not the fact that they are mounted within the wall? I always heard that while mounting them in the wall looked nice, it wasn't great for sound. No highs, no lows? Must be Bose. I was fairly involved in the production audio aspect of sound design for a bunch of years, and Bose is universally regarded as, well, not great. Ever notice they call their subwoofers "bass modules"? It's because they don't produce the frequency low enough to be classified as a subwoofer by industry standards. Anyway, they do some sketchy shit to sell mediocre speakers for a high price. Polk and JBL are great though, so hopefully Kaan's Polks balance out the Bose... and in a garage, I'm sure it really doesn't matter too much. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 04-24-2013 ![]() I just know I'm NOT running Bose outside for the deck/patio Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Ken - 04-24-2013 Jake Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:Kaan Canturk...making everyone else look like bitches since 2013? Why Apple? Plenty of other, i'm sure cheaper, devices will do that. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z492TTP-Bluetooth-Music-Receiver/dp/B0047T79VS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366836451&sr=8-1&keywords=bluetooth+receiver+adapter Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Evan - 04-24-2013 Kaan Wrote:NOW ITS TIME FOR DANCE CLUB GARAGE!hahah, When I did mine I just cut the holes without checking behind. "fuckit, 120v cant hurt that bad" Bose has always had much better marketing than actual sound quality, and like jake said kind of a joke in the audio snob community. but like you said its a garage, not a listening room. and youre never going to get great low end with the acoustics of an in wall/ceiling anyway. I put monoprice speakers in my garage and they work out great, surprisingly detailed and cheap. I may hide a home theater sub under one of the workbenches sometime though for more low end. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - HAULN-SS - 04-24-2013 I think older folks must be super into bose stuff. My dad is sold on them for some reason, and then bought me a Cinemate system for christmas one year. It sounds good enouhg for sure, but when I saw the price of it for a 2.1 system I about shit. I didn't want to hurt any feelings so I am using it but it will eventually be put on one of the spare systems. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - ViPER1313 - 04-24-2013 My 2 cents: *for the size of the speaker* Bose makes OK products, but its pretty hard to get a full range sound out of the tiny ass speakers / enclosures they produce. This coming from a Polk whore - love my Monitor 70s  Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Evan - 04-25-2013 Ken Wrote:bluetooth sound quality and range both suck. stick the phone in your pocket, walk across the room and the music starts breaking up.Jake Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:Kaan Canturk...making everyone else look like bitches since 2013? as much as apple products annoy me, the airport express system is pretty good. I have a squeezebox that I <3 <3 <3 but since they dont make them anymore, Id say either the airport express or a small tablet /ipod touch hooked up to the amp would be good options. Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - Kaan - 05-08-2013 Dusting off the green thumb for the season! at the apartment we used to grow veggies and we will do that again next year once i sort out the garden issue here at the house. to test drive... we grow hops! Galena and Cascade hops! if this location works, next year i'll be moving these two "hop boxes" apart and building the garden in between them. right now they have about 20feet of growth each (trained to the rope)... net year they will need 30ish feet. ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Project: Summit Point Bed and Breffiss! - V1GiLaNtE - 05-08-2013 ^THIS.
