They have these in Panama. I'll pitch in to buy one if you help me buy a beach house.

Looks like they were on Darwin's Kart Racing Team

So I didn't know the Reaper is a thing?

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.autotrader.com/car-reviews/2014-chevrolet-silverado-reaper-new-car-review-232685">http://www.autotrader.com/car-reviews/2 ... iew-232685</a><!-- m -->

I've been in the south too long I guess but very seriously considering a big truck as my next purchase when I'm ready to retire the Yag. On paper this thing seems it would outperform the current gen Raptor (and probably also the new one coming out) but GM build quality has always left a lot to be desired and these things maxed are are pushing like $80k apparently. The factory warranty is nice and all with the performance parts, and Lingenfelter is a good name, but I dunno this thing just doesn't do it for me. Especially visually when compared to the Raptor:

With the new aluminum frame and ecoboost motor, with a tune the Raptor would be plenty powerful and overall a much nicer truck IMO, especially on the interior and features (like front / rear cameras, etc.)

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 08-21-2015

Fuck that's hideous.

So what's the appeal of these lifted, bigger-just-to-be-bigger, extra cost option trucks? If it's just looks, and "I can afford it", that's perfectly ok I guess. I admit they look like cool RC trucks. Like, why buy a regular 911 to drive to work when you can afford a less comfortable 911 GT3 RS with flags all over it, to drive to work. :dunno:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 08-21-2015

Agree on the looks and they clearly ripped off a lot from the Raptor (same shocks, similar travel, even the same graphics style).

Yeah pretty much a) and b). There's the obvious utility of owning a 4 door super cab truck that is nice but in general I've gotten spoiled with nice interiors and the wow factor of a vehicle. Like, I have to get excited when I see and get into my car. I test drove a few really, really nice F150s last year. Beautiful interiors, drove fine but when I got out and looked at it, it didn't have that "it" factor for me. It wasn't exciting. I also appreciate exclusivity, having something you don't see every day. I see plenty of platinum F150s, etc. around but maybe a Raptor once every few months.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 08-21-2015

fair enough 8)

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 08-21-2015

Thank God you don't live in NOVA, you'd have to drive Murano CrossCabriolet with purple paint and pink leather seats to stand out up here. Raptors don't even catch my attention anymore, they blend right in up here with all the 4-door Wranglers with $25,000 in trail mods bolted onto them that will never see dirt.

Sorry about your penis, I guess.

I don't see the appeal in these giant off-road-equipped trucks unless you're actually doing anything off-road with them. Compared to a regular F-150, it's going to ride worse, look worse, be noisy as hell (those big tires are NOT highway queens), and forget about any inkling of "looking classy" with it.

There's appeal in a pickup, and you can get 'em equipped really nice. But for your use, get a F-150 Platinum or Sierra Denali.

Frankly, a tow hitch and rented trailer on that Acura thingy you own would haul everything you need and let you continue driving a badass sporty car. That's the route I'd go.

Haha...my cars have always been like my dack, big and aggressive Tongue

Yeah we have a hauler now but there is some stuff that a CSUV just can't haul around...and we will be upgrading to a bigger house someday where that capacity is going to be really nice. And visiting my wife's family is basically off-roading, so there's always that. I'm still not completely sold on owning a truck vs. a completely impractical coupe like the F-Type or an SUV with a big motor like an SRT8 Jeep. Just something I have been tossing around after looking at trucks last year Smile

An F-150 Platinum/Lariat or JGC SRT8 would surely be able to get you anywhere you needed to go, with the benefit of not making you look like an insufferable d-bag.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 08-21-2015

YES, G-Wagen all day erryday. Do that.

So a buddy of mine actually has one of these and he loves it. I've seen a few around Ballantyne and they are outlandish pretentious and awesome. The long term cost of ownership would make me nervous but I would unashamedly crush curbs and scare babies at the local mall with that thing.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 08-21-2015

Joey how could you miss the opportunity to plug the G63 AMG 6x6? Exclusivity, looks, plenty of power, and a bed for all of your hauling needs.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - *insertusernamehere* - 08-21-2015

If its one thing you've said that I agree with, is that you buy a raptor. Small dicks unite. Together we will conquer the world with our big trucks.

I think I've been in Harrisonburg too long.

And costs 3.5xs a much as my house!!

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 08-21-2015

Gotta put some skin in the game if you wanna look the part bruh. All about that exclusivity.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 08-21-2015

$650K buys me an entire garage full of Aston Martins. And the garage itself
