Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - JustinG - 02-07-2017 I have an 02 sensor socket, unless you already f'd it up Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-07-2017 JustinG Wrote:I have an 02 sensor socket, unless you already f'd it upConfirmed fucked. Tried a few ways to get this off. No dice. Guy couldn't spin it on or off the car and is jacked... Haven't tried with new breaker bar or soaking it in PB and heating though. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - JustinG - 02-07-2017 good pair of vice grips and some beer should handle it. we doing this at your place? or wanna do it at mine with air tools etc. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Kaan - 02-08-2017 JustinG Wrote:good pair of vice grips and some beer should handle it. LOL.... vise grips + beer = job done... but just in case, come to my house where i have air tools. Only in MM Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-08-2017 JustinG Wrote:good pair of vice grips and some beer should handle it. Tried vice grips when installed header with friend. His 02 sensor came off no problem. Not sure if cross threaded from factory or if I got my header a lot hotter and got the 02 somehow stuck. Willing to attempt again but thinking we are going to need to do some voodoo to get it off. Going to PB blast this morning and tomorrow morning and try again Thursday night with my multi pointed wrenchs Not really trying to deal with uhaul plus all the spare parts I'd have to carry over from the interior and such.. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-12-2017 No idea what's up with this fucking 02 sensor. It's loose a quarter turn and will tighten again a quarter turn but will not loosen anymore. About to set this thing on fire and watch it burn. I'm probably just going to take it to a shop to either drill it out or find a way to remove it... just over it. This thing has to have been fucked from the factory. Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - JPolen01 - 02-12-2017 Do you need the sensor? For the time and cost of taking it to a shop to remove can you just buy a new one? Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-12-2017 JPolen01 Wrote:Do you need the sensor? For the time and cost of taking it to a shop to remove can you just buy a new one? That's not the issue. This is the primary 02 stuck in the OEM header. I have a 4-1 on the car with a working primary I bought because this one is stuck. It's cheaper to to take it to a shop and take the sensor out so I can OE header back in Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - JustinG - 02-12-2017 This header is loose and off the car right? I'll get that bitch out... Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - ViPER1313 - 02-12-2017 rherold9 Wrote:No idea what's up with this fucking 02 sensor. It's loose a quarter turn and will tighten again a quarter turn but will not loosen anymore. About to set this thing on fire and watch it burn. Carbon on the end threads... I always try to use an impact and a 5.5 sided O2 sensor socket. Cheap autozone 5 sided O2 sensor sockets and a pry bar is almost guaranteed to strip them. You get what you pay for here. Try soaking the threads in a carbon cleaner if you were able to break it free that 1/4 turn. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-12-2017 Yeah, header is off. Bolt is completely round though. Tried wrench and hammer tapping did nothing. I think it needs some heat to help get it off. Torch would come in handy or a super hot heat gun which I don't own.. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - HAULN-SS - 02-13-2017 Can get a torch kit at Lowes for like 20 bucks Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-13-2017 HAULN-SS Wrote:Can get a torch kit at Lowes for like 20 bucks Gets hot enough for exhaust manifold temperature? I want to make sure these threads are burning up and add some PB to them and then smack them with a hammer. Hoping that will do it... Edit: I think I'll pick up a decent vice not from Harbor Freight and that torch and give it a try again... probably end up lighting it on fire instead though. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-13-2017 rherold9 Wrote:HAULN-SS Wrote:Can get a torch kit at Lowes for like 20 bucks  Been there done that. If its off the car you can always come up with a wrench about the size of the 02 sensor and I can weld the wrench to the 02 and get it off (the heat from the welder also helps pop it out). Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Beej - 02-13-2017 I have both a torch (not sure about gas) and heat gun if they'd be handy. I'm not sure either would fix it if it's as tough as you say, but you're welcome to them if you want. As for being rounded off...maybe a pipe wrench? (got one of those, too) Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-13-2017 I guess Justin is going to try to work some magic on Wednesday. We will see how this goes. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-13-2017 Last thing I should bring up is what to do about the roll bar/harness holes that goes through the frame. They are ~nickel size but I have no idea how to fix them besides just welding up a plate to cover them with the help of someone? Thoughts? Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - JustinG - 02-13-2017 We can rivet some metal in and seam seal it, paint the bottom with undercoat. Worked on the rusted to shit floor pans of the jeep. If no water penetrates who the fuck cares. The random mechanic wont notice, none will the next owner. Or find some rubber grommets/plugs that fit and some silicone Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - navin - 02-13-2017 Won't the interior panels/carpets cover the holes? I'd just plug them with rubber grommets from Lowes, what I used for mine when I took out the Autopower. Hopefully Carmax or whomever will do a quick glimpse in that area and won't notice the plugs. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 02-13-2017 Carpet is cut in the rear so I just ordered one from a junk yard to cover it along with clips. So it will be easy to cover but I'd like it to look mostly unnoticeable. Now have to figure out where to buy some thin strips of metal to cover the holes. Justin, do you have the tools to do all that and possibly cut metal? If not I can buy some tools from wherever just let me know what I need. That will definitely happen Saturday or Sunday whenever Justin/Matthew are available. Do you just want to wait until the weekend for the header as well then? Other than that, tonight I got the short shift kit out, put in the stock airbox, and got the front Koni's out. Wasn't a bad two hours. Tomorrow hopefully I'll finish the rest of the suspension but might have to wait for help on the front struts since Macpherson is a pain in the ass. Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk |
