Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 07-29-2015 hey guys my subaru turned 125k miles yesterday, they're super reliable Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 07-29-2015 2016 Focus RS pricing to start at ~$36,000. I'd take that over the current STi or Golf R any day, especially since it has a good bit more power than either. Subaru needs to get rid of the damn EJ25. http://www.autoblog.com/2015/07/29/2016 ... ng-report/ Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 07-29-2015 RawrImAMonster Wrote:2016 Focus RS pricing to start at ~$36,000. AWD Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 07-29-2015 The RS uses a smart diff in the rear for torque vectoring. There may be some corner-braking VSA system but the torque-vectoring is not using the brakes. The RS has better brakes than the ST (it has to really) so I think it'll be fine on that front. Yeah but fully loaded the Golf R is $1k less and has adjustable suspension and flappy-paddles.

Yeah, but who wants an automatic on a car like this? Also, 50 hp more from the factory. Also, Focus is not German. Actually, this Focus is going to be built in Germany, which is worrying. I'd take that over the current STi or Golf R any day, especially since it has a good bit more power than either. Subaru needs to get rid of the damn EJ25. Me. When it comes to furiously turbocharged tiny little engines a dual clutch is vastly superior and I'm not even sorry about it anymore. You can argue it's not as engaging or whatever the fuck that means, but once you get used to not losing boost on upshifts you just can't go back, I tried when I bought the MK7 and I felt like I was driving something from the 30s. Also, no one seems capable of developing an OEM clutch that can handle 1hp over the stock power figures without melting, might as well just pay the upcharge for a trans that can handle it and finance it with the car, instead of paying $1k for an upgraded clutch at 8000 miles after your tune (and you would eventually get a tune) destroys it. And that's a very valid point, however a VW isn't a fucking Ford, so guess it just depends on your perspective and brand allegiances. 8) Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 07-29-2015 As far as everything I've seen with 135i's and Evo's, DCT's don't hold up for shit once you start modding. And fixing those is a whole lot more expensive than changing a clutch. Maybe VW's are different, but I doubt it. Also, the losing boost on newer manual cars isn't really a thing anymore is it? Most of the newer ones have the "no lift to shift" stuff. Ignoring that, a manual is more fun, which is the whole point of a car like this. Edit: FWIW, my clutch is holding up perfectly fine at ~100hp over factory. And the car had an old version of the JB4 on it when I got it, so it was modded before I even had it. Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 07-29-2015 It's backwards in the VW world. The DSGs aren't perfect and do have some issues with the hydraulic units, but you're just as likely to get them with stage 2+ as you are bone stock. The stick shifts on the other hand WILL melt in 10k miles or less with a tune, guaranteed. It's been like that since the MKV came out. In all seriousness though, I went in to the dealer fully prepared to save money and buy the stickshift, but after driving them back to back I realized how much I really did enjoy the DSG. You get used to the nearly seemless upshifts that let you just ride the torque wave without losing boost, and also brings its own sense of drama with clicks and pops and farts and it sounds like 1st gear is straight cut, which is entertaining in parking garages. If it was my only car, would I still get it? Probably not, I'd be back in the stone ages with the rest of you people because there really is no replacement for the experience of driving manual, but the dual clutches are getting really, really good. Not "almost as good", or "it's good for what it is", they're good all on their own and offer a unique driving experience, even when you take the convenience or speed factor out of it. Thank you Gerald for knowing what I meant..... don't know if it as aggressive as it was on Jake's ST, but he said his brakes were toasted sometimes because of it. Hopefully it will all be k and run well. I'll be eventually looking in that hot hatch category for a car out of college. Hoping on Mazda confirmation in September on a new Speed3... Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 07-29-2015 Reading Comprehension, you still aren't getting it even with G explaining it. Here ya go: http://drivingspirit.com/ford-focus-rs- ... explained/ Hint: Torque vectoring has nothing to do with the brakes in this baby. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 07-29-2015 what the fuck happened to the hate parade? you guys are all pussies.
