From Amazon:

New Shield:

Didn't realize it was made here in NC! The suede is going to be super comfortable. I also like how the nylonish material that holds the gun is really tough but also doesn't look like it will marr up the gun too much.

It keeps the gun completely off of my skin, even with the extended mag:

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 10-09-2012

Just did the range qualification last night before the CWP class on Saturday. The instructor emailed me and said I did well today. I have never really been able to rapid fire my gun so that was a new experience, and I actually liked the added pressure of the timed trial. The only shots that I could tell were way off were at the very beginning when the instructor wanted me to shoot from the isosceles stance. I never shoot like that, I naturally fire from the sideways stance (forget the exact term). As soon as I told him and he let me make the adjustment, most of my shots were center mass grouped around the X and 9/8 rings.

Some people were in there qualifying with .38 special revolvers. Even our instructor was like "really? you brought a .38 special to qualify with? Oh well, we'll get through it!"

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 10-09-2012

What's wrong with qualifying with a .38 special. What was the qualification process like, anyway?

The process was 40 rounds total. You start with the pistol unloaded practicing moving from close / low ready to fire position. Then he asked us to do it with our eyes closed to ensure we were on target.

Then the pistol is loaded. Target was placed at 15 yards, you fire 15 rounds on timed intervals. You start at low ready. The instructor would yell out "5 rounds in 6 seconds. FIRE". You return to low ready. Then "3 rounds 4 seconds. FIRE". "1 round 2 seconds. FIRE". etc.

Target then is pulled in to 7 yards, same process. And then 10 rounds at 3 yards.

The .38 special would be annoying to qualify with for a couple of reasons. Having shot my buddy's snubnose that he conceals, it is super inaccurate when compared to the semi-auto. Every time I have shot it he and I both have had a hard enough time putting the rounds center mass even at like 7 yards. I can't imagine trying to rapid fire that thing and hit consistently at 15 yards. I somewhat joke with him every time we shoot it at the range that he is more likely to hit a bystander than a bad guy with that gun. Also, you would just end up spending half of the qualification reloading, which is annoying. I had a 19 round and 13 round mag, so it went by pretty quickly, just had to reload once.

It's just a matter of practicing. All the Officer's in the DOC that choose to carry are issued a .38special snubnose revolver as their sidearm. The DOC is in the process of moving us over to .40 cal Glock's and some of the instructors are having trouble qualifying for statewide instructor on the Glock whereas they can qualify first time every time on the S&W revolver. The firearms instructor in our office qualified first time with the Glock but said his score was considerably lower than what he scores with the revolver, because that is what he has carried for years.

So where is the best place to buy a Shield 9mm for a reasonable price?

Good luck finding one. I went to Gunbroker. Maybe they ramped up the production since then...but there wasn't a single store within a 45 minute radius of Charlotte that I could find that had one.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 10-17-2012

Did anyone watch the debate last night? I was told that Obama said that he will reinstate an assault weapons ban if he is re-elected. Is that true?

if he said that, he wants to give congress to the republicans. he will shoot himself in the foot for even trying it.

Either way, I think my timeline for the AR purchase just moved up a bit

he mentioned it in a roundabout way (not I WILL BAN EVILGUNS), but it was election-time pandering.
(and like most ignorant lefties, he also called them automatic weapons, which romney corrected)

he doesnt even do the shit he explicitly says he will, so i dont think there is much chance of AWB 2.0
but there is going to be a run on the bank make no mistake, so order your lowers now.

i was thinking of ordering one of those $100 polymer AR lowers because fuckitwhynot

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 10-18-2012

there have been verious issues with the poly lowers. they dont stand up to abuse... sometimes they come apart, sometimes they deform... it was a trendy light weight thing to do but they just dont hold up. even the trigger and hammer springs were too much for the lowers at times.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2012

I was looking at this one (now out of stock Sad). Just need a handguard and a stock.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 10-18-2012

I have heard Palmetto Arms ARs are pretty good and this seems like a decent package. Any thoughts?

thats a pretty cheap rifle with an optic that isnt too bad. vortex isnt aimpoint... you'll want batteries and a back up sight.
