Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - SlimKlim - 09-07-2016 Fuck it, I'll pile on. I wasn't going to say anything until you got all whiny and shit. The thing is you didn't accept responsibility. You said " I got lucky. I guess the strap somehow managed to come off the tire. It was 100% on before I left VMP and it was double checked." You're asserting the strap magically undid itself despite you checking that it was 100%. If it was 100%, it 100% would not have come loose. If you said "I missed something, I fucked up, I won't let it happen again", that would be taking responsibility. rherold9 Wrote:This may or may not be why students/alumni aren't more active on here  As the saying goes if you can't take the heat, get off our fucking forum. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 09-07-2016 Because tire straps can't come off a tire or come loose while being towed on a dolly? Both straps were on before leaving and tightened down... I guess that doesn't mean '100% on' to some people. I'll be sure to make my wording as generic as possible to not make people patronage the smallest verbiage details. ![]() SlimKlim Wrote:As the saying goes if you can't take the heat, get off our fucking forum. Actually, will do ![]() Holy shit this is insane. I said I'd be getting a full trailer next time and I realized what happened yet some people start a shit storm. It's absolutely comical. My bad for being tired of some people's comments/remarks when they do nothing but try to patronage and berate you. Act like they are better. You right, I'll just take it. My bad for saying anything and being whiny. Thank you to the people who actually offer good advice though. It is appreciated. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Sully - 09-07-2016 May want to check clearance on full trailers as well. I seem to remember them being very high. May need some extra ramps or a creative parking spot Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - SlimKlim - 09-07-2016 rherold9 Wrote:Actually, will do Please God, be serious. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Kaan - 09-07-2016 maybe its just my old man eyes, but it looks like you completely forgot to hook that side up and rolled the car right over the strap... you are dumb, you got lucky, dont do it again... your truck can easily handle a big boy trailer... upgrade next time cheap ass... oh and good luck getting a lowered car on a rental lol Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Ken - 09-07-2016 rherold9 Wrote:Because tire straps can't come off a tire or come loose while being towed on a dolly? You posted about how you mad a poor decision because, essentially, lazy. Then you compound that poor decision by forcing something to work that clearly wasn't ideal instead of just bailing and calling it; AND THEN you add to that by not making 100% sure everything is tied down (yeah i know it was 100%.... clearly not) and threaten the lives of those around you on the road. What did you expect? Everyone to be like, "oh hey, no worries Ryan, you'll get them next time tiger"? Shit like this is why people like to shit on us millennials. You catch even the slightest whiff of criticism, and yes condemnation, for something dumb and then lash back out. Yes, to your credit, you owned up partially. Just because you do that however doesn't mean your exempt from people calling out just how fucking stupid it was. Are people on this forum harsher than most, maybe, idk, but it's definitely not worth freaking out and lashing back at them over. Take your licks, learn your lessons and move on. Man I was gonna come in here and pile on but you guys seem to have it handled. Ryan, this isn't just about you. I mean, make no mistake, it IS about you and about shaming and browbeating you into better decisions in the future, but it's also about those who come after you, reading this thread and going "FUCK ME SIDEWAYS WITH A FOLGERS CAN, I'M GONNA DO IT RIGHT WHEN MY TURN COMES OR THESE CHUCKLEFUCKS WILL FEED ME MY OWN DICK." And we are. "You right, I'll just take it." Yes. We are feeding you your own dick because we hold you (and all MMers) to a standard that is above your poor planning and even poorer execution. Buck up, sunshine. Take your lumps and do it right next time, and every time. Christ knows we've all gotten our fair ration of shit for our bad decisions, and you'll get yours same as the rest. <3, Rexy. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - CaptainHenreh - 09-07-2016 As an aside, do people even drink folgers anymore? I liked the delayed alliteration but it's an increasingly irrelevant reference. Do they even sell folgers? Is it in cans? Gotta think of something better. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - davej - 09-07-2016 <PrivateMessage> @Matthew, let's never mention how we towed that 02 back to the house. The forum might burn down. </PM> Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - davej - 09-07-2016 CaptainHenreh Wrote:As an aside, do people even drink folgers anymore? What did you expect? Everyone to be like, "oh hey, no worries Ryan, you'll get them next time tiger"? Wrong. So everyone who says they weren't on were there? They saw it and know I just left it un tight on one side. LUL. Not. It was all tight when left. And actually double checked with two people. I guess two sets of eyes between my gf and I which both tightened them down. How I know it was double checked? because I backed up a little bit so I could turn around. Dolly made weird noises... So gf and I stopped to take a look at the dolly. Well it is because platform with your tires shifts arounds when you back up... Should I even have to explain this? No. Some of you are fucking ridiculous with assumptions and accusations  . Hmm.. maybe the strap could have come off from shitty, bumpy roads? Hm. In addition to obviously not putting the heaviest part on the front of the dolly, according to Jake (which I didn't know was that big of a deal). Seems like a better assumption. As I have to drive in a city and on 85/95 which roads are not the smoothest. What I did notice was in the city the dolly made a bit more noise. I looked in the mirrors closely and the strap was not in my mirror anymore as it used to be when I was looking before. Not sure when it came off but it did. I pulled over to look and that was when I found it. I've taken plenty of criticism. I have made some good decisions based off it and learned things. But that's from people who actually are giving advice that is advice. It's the intentional sarcastic remarks or other patronage intended to just get a rise out of the person that is bullshit and people act like it's just okay. They aren't being serious. Blah blah. Yeah. Right... End of story, I said I made mistakes, I said I would get a full trailer next time. Sully, yes I will need to get some 2x4's to get the Uhaul full trailer to work. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Senor_Taylor - 09-07-2016 With the Uhaul trailer, get some ramps and drive the rear wheels of your truck up onto them. That will angle the trailer down to facilitate loading your car. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - *insertusernamehere* - 09-07-2016 10/10 would read again. Yep. Jake Wrote:. Towing is srs bizniss and you either need to do it right or not do it at all. You need to realize that towing, as a whole, is going to be inconvenient. If you're considering ten miles an inconvenience, when that would have allowed you to rent the correct trailer to tow your car safely, then I'd suggest reconsidering your time management. This x1000. You towing a trailer seems like an even worse idea...... More weight and more to go wrong with your attitude. Towing is easily the most stressful part of a track weekend. Jake Wrote:When you freely admit that you hung all of the car's weight behind the tow dolly (loading backwards, could have easily turned into a big pendulum) and ended up pulling it with one of the two tire straps undone.. The autocross must of been super important to make, especially after breaking the car trying to load it in the first place. Jake Wrote:then I'd suggest reconsidering your time management. Maybe other sports beckon where you don't have to endanger others just getting to the track because you are lazy...... Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-07-2016 ![]() I am a little disappointed in this forum. A lot of these guys bashing have done just as bad mistakes in history. Please don't stop posting build threads (I did because I got tired of this bs). 3/4 of the time I click on this forum all that remains is bitching about wireless routers, guns, or boring adult shit. You fucked up, it happened. A strap does loosen up...when it isn't positioned properly. When you are unsure, make sure to reach out to people that have done so before instead of risking mayhem. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 11-15-2016 Same thing from the book of faces: Overall, Fall Finale was great. I left a second or so on the table here and there at several areas. I was doing well, didnt seem like I had any bad habits, and was driving decently fast. Places I can pick up time are T1, T3, T4, keep it flat in T6-T9, and also T10. There a few tenths here and there that can easily drop a second or more off my time without over driving the car. Matthew Huffman hopped in Sunday and made sure all was well and there were no bad habits. He did confirm the things I thought but my goal wasn't to be the fastest but to feel comfortable and get consistent times. I was pretty rusty Saturday morning not to mention I didn't have any time to get the car warm plus the track was slick for a few laps due to someone leaking some fluid. The rest of Saturday I slowly picked everything back up and I started feeling more comfortable and more comfortable. Sunday I was running consistent mid to high 1:32-1:33's when there wasnt traffic which is great. I knew I had some left on the table so I pushed in a few laps in Sunday Session 3 when I had some more space. I was able to hit right at a 1:31:9. Still had some left on the table. Not too shabby though for the way the car sits. Looking forward to the next season and a possible jump to TTE maybe at the end of Summer or early Fall. I plan to be driving again in April. Work Feb. Possibly work March, July, and August depending on Autox schedule. So, it's time to actually plan some small maintenance items. Some things I need to do with this car that I have been lazy about are: 1. Replace some destroyed front OEM top hats with some OEM ones 2. Fix abs light Number 1 is easy as buying. Unbolting top hates, replacing top hat, and re-tighten top hats. For number 2 I'm going to need an ob2 abs scanner to see what wheel speed sensor(s) I needs to replace. Buy wheel speed sensor(s) and then replace with female torx bit. Does anyone know of someone that would be willing to let me borrow an ob2 abs scanner? Other than that look over brakes, re-tighten bolts on suspension, and replace tires once they are shot. Not too much planned with this thing anymore. We shall see what TTE brings in competition wise and I may go back to stock brakes with 60s, 15 inch wheels and slicks. Other than that this car will be just maintained until I can pick up another car to race. Going to be hard to sell the car eventually but I knew that coming in. Worst comes to worst I have 3 DDs or 2 DDs and dedicated autox car but that's a few years from now ![]() Last, I have a funky maf sensor check engine light that started happening the next event after flashing an updated tune at the beginning of last season. It kept coming back after resetting it through Torque. Tuner has sent me another file after some data logging so hopefully that fixes it. I've already cleaned the maf so next step is replace the sensor. Edit: I don't mind paying to use or renting it from a friend as long as it isn't the cost of buying one Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk |
