ScottyB Wrote:the S1000 won't have a chance in hell if they can't offer any reasonable storage space in it....that's a big part of what killed MR-S sales compared to the miata which was infinitely more practical.
I never really thought of that, but yes, the Miata is "practical" compared to MRS....
That being said, it's not like it cannot be done so I'm not sure what the problem is. The Fiero, while it sure was an odd trunk, could hold a golf bag or two or plenty of groceries. And that was behind a V6. If a 1L 3cyl doesn't leave room for a trunk, or they haven't moved the cabin back enough that there's a large front trunk, then wtf. :dunno:

Here's the S660's "trunk", hmmm not promising.... :evileye:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 07-13-2015

The S660 tub is designed such that different subframes can be attached to the front and rear. Ostensibly Honda can make the car a bit longer and more practical for other markets since it has to be a certain overall size in Japan to get Kei car status.

Well then I hope the Honda design team has plenty of posters like this up so they know how it is done

^^^ Please tell me you have that image as a poster in your garage ^^^

So the press launch for the Viper ACR just happened at VIR. One of the R&T writers wrote a thoroughly entertaining article about it:

Quote:So you’d be forgiven for dismissing the 2016 Viper ACR as another blunt instrument for highly successful drywall contractors to stuff into racetrack barriers at hold-my-beer-and-watch-this velocities.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.wired.com/2015/07/117500-viper-acr-thats-steal/">http://www.wired.com/2015/07/117500-vip ... ats-steal/</a><!-- m -->

Personally this car gets into the whole issue of buying a track-modified street car instead of a track-built track car but it is still pretty badass.

What a dumb-ass company. That being said none of the constant recalls and bleeding money seems to hurt their stock price. Sure, it's valued as a 50 billion dollar company, but a billion worth of recalls every year seems pretty significant. :dunno:

*edit* oh, my bad, 2.8 billion in recalls last year :evileye:

Gosh, the weakest and most consistently troubled of the "big three" isn't improved by italian management? This is my shocked face: 8)

Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 07-27-2015

I'm a moron, I somehow ended up thinking and quoting GM numbers. FCA / Chrysler is a 20B company that ONLY blew 0.8B in recalls last year. So I guess that's about as bad.

You really know nothing about racing (or the other cars it raced against) do you?

I am a huge fan of the GT350R, not knocking the car just your understanding of how things work, hell I went over and talked to the multimatic engineers this past weekend at limerock. It's like saying that NASCAR Toyota Camry CREAMED THOSE IMPALAS THIS WEEKEND< ZOMG MY CAMRY IS RACING AWESOMENESS

I guess ignorance is bliss

Guess what, pretty much every GS Car has restrictor plated box stock production engine, including the Camaro/E92 M3/Porsche 911 etc.

Forced to add ballast, well they get "minimum weights" when the manufacturer works with IMSA to determine the BOP. (basically how much time/money can we influence IMSA). Ford did a good job negotiating a low initial weight.

So the GT350R started at 3350 and got added 50lbs to 3400 after their wins at Mosport. Sucks, but not as bad as the Camaros who were 3500lbs and got added 75lbs to 3575 after their 1/2 wins in the beginning of the season AND a reduction in power through a 3mm decrease in their restrictor plate size.

For 1/2-way through the LimeRock race where "mustangs put on a clinic", it was Camaro/Porsche/Camaro 1/2/3 till one camaro plowed out the 911 into the wall and received a time penalty while the Porsche spent time in the pits repairing damage. The 3rd camaro spun out, his own damn fault.

Multimatic gets huge praise for rebuilding a car, but I would say Multimatic got a bit lucky on this one. Still deserved the win racing clean, but I wouldn't say "OMG GT350R PWNS NOOBS, IS SO FAST HAS TO BE PULLED BACK" when that is far and away not even close to how things work.

DJ, I had a dream last night that we went to a racetrack together and you let me take your BMW out to race. I took it out hooning for a while and came back and race day was over and you were salty that you didn't get to track your own car.

True story, u were mad bro in my dream last night and now u are mad bro today. PROPHECY
