I've heard good things about the raven holsters but just FYI...if your using it as an IWB holster your going to want some sort of padding/sweat barrier. The raven is straight kydex on skin unless you tuck in your undershirt, which I feel would get a bit uncomfortable....I have been considering one for OWB though, but there are much cheaper kydex options with the same basic design.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-17-2012

Ha I know you guys have! Just wondering if you had any feedback. Basically the same price. Unfortunately Concord / Statesville is a little far to drive just to try on a holster. I am surprised they don't have any dealers in Charlotte, it's a way bigger market.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 09-17-2012

So to celebrate my being born Samantha bought me a 5.11 holster undershit. It's pretty comfortable and so long as I"m wearing a buttom up shirt (like a suit shirt) my Glock 19 is very well concealed. Obviously the bigger glock prints a bit under a t-shirt, but I could see this shirt being very comfortable for jogging/bike rides. I intend to wear it to work on days that I wear a suit and IWB holsters aren't as feasible. Firearm on one side and a spare magazine on the other. The weight bearing part of the shirt actually goes all the way across your shoulder so it doesn't feel like the shirt is being pulled down.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 09-17-2012

What blocks the trigger in that shirt?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 09-17-2012

The uncle mike's pocket holster that I also put in there with it. The material on the outside keeps the pocket holster held inside and it's pretty easy to reholster it. The material that the holster part of the shirt is made of is fairly thick and does a good job of protecting the trigger, but a tighter fitting pocket holster makes it feel more secure to me.

Shield should be here tomorrow Smile

Picked up some FMJs and SD ammo at wally world last night....I'm definitely ready!!

Does the shirt make you look ripped like this? I might need one too!

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 09-20-2012

I wish! As soon as I put that shirt on and put the gun on one side and spare mag on the other I couldn't get another shirt on fast enough. Even if you are built like a bodybuilder you wouldn't want to wear this without something over it. In the pictures you really only see the sew marks and openings for the pockets but on the actual shirt the holster material is somewhat thick and made of a different material.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2012

Picked up my Shield .40 yesterday. Probably won't have the chance to fire it until this weekend, but overall it fits very well in my hand despite being so slim. I am not SUPER crazy about the hand fit though so I may look into some kind of slim grip improvement after I get a chance to shoot it. The white dot sights are actually very bold and clear to target with and with the extended mag I can get a full finger grip around it. Trigger pull is money but the slide stop and takedown lever are MUCH harder to operate than my XDM. Like almost unable to be easily switched up or down with my thumb without gripping with my other hand. I guess I have just been spoiled by the XDM.

The cleaning process is a little more annoying too. There is a tiny yellow lever near where the top of the magazine meets the firing chamber that you have to flip down with a tiny screwdriver or something metal before you can take the slide off. That's real nickpicky but again, I can have my XDM completely apart for cleaning in less than 5 seconds.

Looking forward to reporting back after I can get some FMJ and SD rounds through it Smile

You don't have to flip it down, just pull the trigger glock style.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2012

Really? I was just reading through the manual and that's what it said. So pull the slide back, lock it, then pull the trigger?

Yeah, the little yellow lever is the sear disconnect, so you don't have to pull the trigger during disassembly. But lock the slide back, flip down the disassembly lever, return slide to battery, then pull trigger. The slide will "jump" forward a little bit and you can then remove it from the lower assembly.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2012

You the man, thanks!

The lady at the store I picked it up at was commenting on it. She was jealous, she said she had only seen a few of them come through there, mostly people transferring them. Her exact quote was if she had a truckload of them she could unload them within a day or two.

We'll see what all the fuss is about! Going to go ahead and order the holster yall recommended and sign up for the concealed class soon.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 09-26-2012

Keep in mind it's designed as a concealed carry pistol. So things like your slide stop and takedown lever are supposed to be small and low profile.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2012

Yeah no i understand that. It's not the size really that bothers me it's the pressure with which I have to press on them to engage. The slide stop is actually ridiculously touch to engage / disengage...maybe supposed to be like that?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 09-26-2012

There's been a trend in firearms training to avoid "using" the slide stop for anything other than administratively locking the slide open. Lots of new weapons have followed this trend, making the slide stops both small and under heavy spring pressure. The science behind this is pretty obvious. Fiddling a slide stop after inserting a magazine is a fine motor motion. You gotta use your fingertips. Grabbing the rear of the slide and slingshotting that motherfucker like you mean it is a gross motor motion. Guess which is easier under stress?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-26-2012

I definitely see the logic there. I just loveeeeee how easy it is to bring the slide home with the slide stop on my XDM.

I know it's out there, but hear me out.

You've had 3 people recommend the same brand holster, raving about how comfortable, concealable, and reasonably priced they are.

Call me crazy, but why don't you try them first?

You could even go somewhere and, you know, try it on

Just scooped the tuckable one. Just in case! Didn't spring for the laser guard because I don't think I'm going to add a laser to this one.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 09-26-2012

You won't regret it.
