Alright, bout to make the whole coolant system water wetter. Fuck it. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - jbails39 - 08-08-2016 rherold9 Wrote:Alright, bout to make the whole coolant system water wetter. He hates the environment and the EPA. Save the earth, reduce, reuse, Ryobi. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - *insertusernamehere* - 08-08-2016 I say you leave the coolant passages empty, take off the water pump and thermostat and just weld in some metal plates to seal the gaps. It'll save weight and give the engine 15% more power since you took off the wp. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 08-08-2016 I mean old Porsche's air cool. So I should be good right? Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 09-04-2016 I dids an autocross today and survived my first tow... It was at VMP with VMSC. I should be all set for Fall Finale. 5 runs: Two fastest: It was a fast course. Way faster than Verona ever is. I liked the faster course though. Helped alot for me having no hp. I was able to grab a win in SMF. Was up against a 6th gen SI with aero and DZ2's. Not sure why he wasn't faster but I'll take it :dunno: . I ran a 43.570 as my fastest time. Fastest cars like Vette's and Porsche's were running 40.xx's so there wasn't a huge difference in time to what I'm used to on a tighter course (5-6 seconds). Now on to towing. I rented a Uhaul Dolly since a full trailer was like another 10 miles away so I said f it... Mistakes were made: ![]() This will do: ![]() Made it there no issues: ![]() Coming back on the other hand: ![]() Found this about a half mile away from my townhouse. The other side held and my car didn't fall off. I'll take this as a good sign. I got lucky. I guess the strap somehow managed to come off the tire. It was 100% on before I left VMP and it was double checked. Tow tip from Maeng: Check yo shit a few miles after you leave. Had no issues on the way there but I guess something happened on the way back. Truck did great though! You could definitely feel something different while towing but the truck made it feel like it was just an every day thing and it wasn't a big deal. Don't even think the trans temp got above 120 cruising on smaller hills and didn't even have to downshift on cruise control at 65 and lower. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Scott - 09-06-2016 Tow with the rear wheels on the ground, not the drive wheels........ HAULN-SS Wrote:Yeah - i just assumed maybe something was broken in the car and I was missing what was going on there. I think you two may have missed the picture of the car with the front bumper off and me hitting the lower radiator plastic on the tire strap hook. Wasn't going to work unless I took my radiator off. Not sure how most cars even get on a Uhaul tow dolly. Definitely won't be renting one again. Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Senor_Taylor - 09-06-2016 Quote:"Now on to towing. Another 5-10 minutes to rent a real trailer is such a hassle! Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 09-06-2016 Better than going on the forums to just shit up threads as always... Admits they made a mistake and won't do it next time still gets comments to rub it in  This may or may not be why students/alumni aren't more active on here  I really don't mind criticism and joking around until some people's post are just being a sarcastic asshole just to be one constantly, then it's just obnoxious. Congrats you got your reaction you were looking for  Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Senor_Taylor - 09-06-2016 Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 09-06-2016 Senor_Taylor Wrote: Holy shit is that Simon? Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - *insertusernamehere* - 09-06-2016 Ryan, if you didn't want to hear anything about how you loaded up the car or you not wanting to drive TEN MILES then why did you post about it? Attention? Attention? ![]() Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Jake - 09-07-2016 Nobody is rubbing it in or being sarcastic, Ryan. Towing is srs bizniss and you either need to do it right or not do it at all. You need to realize that towing, as a whole, is going to be inconvenient. If you're considering ten miles an inconvenience, when that would have allowed you to rent the correct trailer to tow your car safely, then I'd suggest reconsidering your time management. When you freely admit that you hung all of the car's weight behind the tow dolly (loading backwards, could have easily turned into a big pendulum) and ended up pulling it with one of the two tire straps undone... Look, Christina loaded up her E36 wrong on a borrowed Touraeg and open trailer. She jackknifed the setup as soon as she got on the highway, could have taken out several other cars and/or herself. The only damage, after she stopped playing tumble-dry, was a bent exhaust tip on the VW and a fucked-up A-frame on the trailer. She will freely tell the story, like you have, but she also won't immediately get defensive and consider anyone's responses as "rubbing it in." Be willing to accept commentary and tips from those who have done this longer than you have. That has been my approach, and I haven't had any issues with nearly two years of towing. |
