The term “side hustle.” It’s a second job. You got yourself a second job. Bravo.

People that attack your character to win an argument. Was speaking to friend of many years this morning and he said something pretty crass. I made a counterpoint in the most polite way possible and made an argument for both sides.

He then immediately brings up things I've done in the past in a group chat full of my friends. I said I never claimed to be a good person and take responsibility for what I've done in the past and have learned from it. He then starts name calling, so I told him to have a good life, and left the chat. I don't need that negativity.

We have always disagreed and I've disapproved of the way he acts often, but that's friendship, right? I used to think you could change someone's mind and help them be a better person, but all that happens is that they drag you down. It's a shame.

I feel like this is about someone who may read your post here too. If not then oh well. Still annoying either way.

Your level of passive-aggressiveness is on point, right about at the "woman scorned" level. The penultimate status is "homosexual slightly inconvenienced" and I look forward to seeing that level of fury eventually Wink

Nah, not about someone in MM. Know them for longer than that.

What they said was extremely personal and nothing I would even say in person to someone.

Time to move on, they arent your friend. You dont need that in your life.

I'll just come out and say it. I haven't talked to my dad in over a year because I made a concerted effort to cut people who made me feel like shit out of my life. I asked him to interact with me, my kid, and others differently, but he said he wasn't going to change.

Yeah, we raced together for 10+ years, but everything I did in life was always wrong and he was usually an ass about it. Sound like anyone you know? I've gotten a lot better (still love to troll here), but I've got a ways to go in eliminating the behavior I was taught.

FWIW, the last year has been liberating.

there's friendly ribbing and shit-talking (which i love to do), and then there's straight-up being abusive or a complete dick. the later isn't friendship, its you being an outlet for someone to take out their insecurities and anger on.

you can't pick your family but you can pick your friends. life's too short to hang out with people that suck.

Apoc Wrote:the last year has been liberating.

that's pretty ballsy. good for you. FWIW you're only marginally insufferable in most arguments on here now :oP

lets hug it out bitches

This is always hard. It's one thing to say "adios" to "friends" who are assholes. It's something else to realize the people who raised you are so flawed that your interactions with them simply aren't healthy. Tough man, sorry to hear you were even in a position where that thought crossed your mind. Sad

Dealerships that inaccurately list cars on automotive search sites. An automatic transmission with paddles != a manual transmission.

Automotive search engines and manufacturers not creating a standardized system that can automatically decode all this information based on the VIN.

FUCKING AIRLINE BAGGAGE FEES. Sad Sad Sad

RE: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Apoc - 02-20-2018

I don't think I've paid a baggage fee in like eight years and we check bags all the time. I'm far from a pro, but I might be able to point you in the right direction if you give some details.

I've got an oversize bag. The maximum dimensions (h/w/l) cannot total more than 62", mine is 77". I am happy to pay *something* as it is quite large but $200 dollars each way is...extraordinary.

RE: You know what really grinds my gears?! - Apoc - 02-20-2018

Oh, yeah, you're screwed. I'm assuming you have good reason for a bag that large, but two bags under 50#/62" will always be the cheapest option.

I do. I'm legally obligated to have a hard-sided locable non-tsa-compliant case that will accommodate a mechanical device in excess of 26" at it's longest length, and also some other stuff. I'm going to try to find a smaller bag, but I'm salty.

Legally obligated for business or for pleasure?

Yeah, that sucks. My hard case is within the limit, but it barely fits on long gun.

I have nothing else to say here except +1

Life is too short to drown in someone else's negativity or insistence on being oppressed.  I'm glad I figured that one out sooner than later.

I will +2 that. I can't imagine how hard that is.

Also a good reminder for parents to be aware of how they are reacting to their kids, in obvious and subtle ways. I've certainly had to adjust over time.

Inconsistent customer service experience from the same company and even level of escalation. Kind went through the same thing with Verizon FiOS but now with Vizio. Like one agent will give you nothing, one will just hand you the keys to the building. I don't get how they can be so inconsistent in their approaches on what they're able to give a customer. The recent Vizio experience was a small problem with the replacement TV. A white line flashes across the screen every few minutes sometimes but it's impossible to predict when. First agent says there's nothing they can do without proof. I said there's not really a way for me to get proof with how sporadic it is. She says that she needs pics or videos. I am my phone at the tv and video while watching normally and catch the problem. Screenshot and edit the clip (so it's sendable and doesn't just have 15 minutes of no issue).

Contact Vizio last night, explain situation and that the other agent needed proof and I now have proof. Ok we'll setup repair. Never asked for proof to be sent. Didn't even seem to care I had it.

Also, I knew I should have kept my last tv when it started working fine....
