Welp, guess I won't be buying Battlefield 3. They're pulling the we're-greedy-bastards-so-we're-going-to-screw-over-the-secondhand-market move. Multiplayer is only playable with a one-use pass. So anyone buying secondhand will have to pay an extra $10. Fuck that.

So let me get this straight. You have to pay for server space for every copy. You can't play on the servers if you don't have the disc. So if I sell my copy to Gerald, he's not playing on the servers.

That being said, I've found that with "First Party" titles I can do better on amazon after a week or two than I ever can do used. (Especially, to be honest, with EA titles.)

Yeah that bullshit logic is as ridiculous as it is greedy. Every other business deals with the secondhand market without resorting to greedy nonsense, why can't videogames?
Could you imagine if when you bought a car, you got a one time use key that would only start the car using your fingerprint? Then if you sold the car you had to pay 1/6th the cost of the new car to get a new key for the new owner?
Unfortunately I don't think gamers will revolt in enough numbers to stop this sort of practice. I think the nickel and diming will only get worse for games in the future.

In other news, Crysis 2 is still awesome. The multiplayer is a much more (if you ask me) in-depth and strategic experience...even if it does have a steeper learning curve. Still getting my bearings in the multiplayer. I got skunked my very first round, but since then I'm actually pretty much where I was at COD, but just taking the "standard" built-in classes.
And I'm *still* doing the single player campaign. Running through a ruined new york blasting aliens with my sniper rifle has been alot more fun (for me) than following a crazy russian all through the cold war third world. Also, sneaking up behind a motherfucker while invisible and stabbing them IN THE DAMNED THROAT is almost cathartic after a long day at work.

Finally got in to CoD Elite beta.
As a stats nerd, there is some seriously cool stuff in here... but you shouldn't have to pay for it. You can view pretty much everything about all your and anyone else's games. I can even look at what all your custom classes are so I can copy you.

I'm probably just about done with BO. GoW3 comes out in about a month and I need to beat Crysis2 before it does. Of course I'm the idiot that signed up for night class on Tuesdays that starts the day GoW3 comes out. :x

Ordered GoW3 today. Amazon has a promo that if you order it, you get $20 in video game credit for a future purchase. With MW3 coming in two months, the credit should come in handy.
