you arent old enough to be complaining about this stuff yet. you have at least 8 years left before you can complain about "stiff springs" and "jarring bumps"

I can't wait to see what I'm like at 30 :bootyshake:

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 06-23-2016

Some news some people will be happy with as well. After doing more digging on the car and aftermarket support there isn't much for actually to be competitive and I don't see it changing much. If I wanted a nice shocks/struts the best I could do is some custom Fortune Auto 510's or a Bilstein re-valve or buy any coilovers and send them to a race shop that re-valve's. There are a lot of aftermarket chassis braces by GTSpec. There are camber arms and toe arms for the rear. Finally people are getting to tube front LCA's. There are bushing's available. Camber/Caster plates for the front. No LSD unless I buy a speed3 transmission which forces me to buy new axles, hubs, etc... Engine won't make much power unless boosted but that is a whole other issue. I can easily get aero though but that doesn't matter either

I'm better off with a new 3rd gen Mazda3 with a 2.5 to be competitive in any Mazda3.

So, this car will probably just run in TTF and I'll probably pick up some Honderp for HC (hate all you want). This means going back to stock rear sway bar, running a 225-45-15 Rival S on a 15x7 Rota Slipstream, dropping back to the stock brake calipers, brackets, and rotors. Exhaust/intake will stay on as well as the rear camber arms. Light as possible is may aim for the car in TTF. Should do quite well in TTF. From those changes alone to brakes, tires, and wheels should take off at least 50 pounds and I still have more to take out of the car... Light weight battery, a/c, headunit, front door panels, front plastics, etc...

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - Jake - 06-23-2016

Can you get it into TTE? My only concern with TTF is that there usually isn't any competition there.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 06-23-2016

I mean my car would be competitive for TTE for what cars run it now. But, basic mod principles would make me run a speed3 LSD which is a pain and a lot. Not really worth it for the time in TT. Also, if a car like Kaan or old TTE Integra rolls in with basically the maxed you can be in TTE then we all screwed.

I did the math and it is exactly 55 pounds of unsprung weight I'll lose from brakes, tires, and wheels alone. So, imma say wurth.

Edit: also a huge plus is how much money I'll save for bigger and better things by running TTF

Can't you run in any faster class if you wanted? I think he'd be able to register with TTE even if he was short on points. This is a question for Felton, I suppose.

Re: Project 2.Slow Mazda3 - rherold9 - 06-23-2016

To be honest I'll see where the comp is at. Moving to TTE wouldn't be anything to crazy to change to regardless. Just more tire with the hoosiers, bro. I mean I could probably get down to 1:27s-1:28s once it is fully prepped in TTE, but who knows :dunno:

Get a truck, save up and get a pre-built HC car. You would be surprised how much you like DDing a truck. I am sure Navin would help you find a good HC car. (plus that HC car can be in TT Wink )

Yeah man I'm gonna need some competition when I get there. The Canturk/Herold/Walker showdown.

I have never once claimed that I was ever planning to get on track. Because I'm not.

We are.

And you will be too.

Long before, probably, your rubber hits racetrack in anger.
