Re: Automotive News Discussion - RawrImAMonster - 03-31-2015 G.Irish Wrote:As far as the exhaust note, the 488 is probably going to sound significantly worse now that it's going turbo. Same with E90 M3 vs F80 M3. I don't know what BMW did with the new m3/4 motor, but it sounds like complete shit compared to the n54/n55 that it was based off of. If it had sounded like they did I wouldn't have cared because n54/55 sound about as good as outgoing v8 (s65), but they really fucked up something in the sound department. Compare the 1M (n54) to the new M4 (S55) with both having aftermarket exhausts. Huge difference. On the other hand, a tune only on the new m4 will get you to about 475whp, so there's that. Edit: 1000th post on this thread  Re: Automotive News Discussion - *insertusernamehere* - 03-31-2015 RawrImAMonster Wrote:G.Irish Wrote:As far as the exhaust note, the 488 is probably going to sound significantly worse now that it's going turbo. Same with E90 M3 vs F80 M3. i mean the new exhausts need a bit of aftermarket livening up but once you do they sound pretty damn good to me Re: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 03-31-2015 G.Irish Wrote:Evan Wrote:interesting that the R8 got none of that slack, despite the fact it looks boring as shit, and could be easily mistaken by a non-car person for a TTI honestly don't understand why people like the R8 so much. It certainly looks different, but it's not sexy and could be mistaken for a car that costs $100k less. Maybe Tony Stark's endorsement is worth more than I thought. Could say the same about the NSX. I like the R8 :dunno: I bet the v10 sounds awesome with some pipes. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 04-01-2015 2016 Boxster Spyder is here and it's pretty. 2,900 lbs, 375 hp, 6 speed manual ![]() ![]()
Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 04-01-2015 oof. so basically a boxster gt4? Ive never been big on Porsche but they're absolutely killing it lately. Id love to have the problem of deciding which to buy, a boxster spyder or a cayman gt4 Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 04-01-2015 NY to LA. 26 Hours. 28 Minutes. With A GT-R-Powered, Dual-Control Infiniti Q50. Alex Roy has done it again. The equipment/modifications to his Q 50 are mind blowing. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/0 ... initi-q50/ Edit this was released today....so April Fools? Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 04-01-2015 So it technically was released last night... not sure how serious vs. April-Foolsy it is. If it's true, it's pretty kickass in the weirdest douchebag-illegal-not-condoned-but-would-be-fun-to-try-it way. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 04-01-2015 Evan Wrote:oof. +1, plus a billion, plus a bajillion. I really wish I had the income to own one of those. Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 04-01-2015 If I was in the market to spend that much money on a car, put me in the group of the "grouchy old men who drive cushy daily driver supercars group." Maybe ownership of a big heavy comfy wolf in sheeps clothing has won me over but there is a lot to be said for living with a car and, as someone said earlier, not having it crush your spine if you drive it to the steakhouse. Plus you don't want your wife crawling in and out of a noisy, harsh car even if it looks cool and expensive on the outside. My desire to own an Aston has only increased over the years despite the continued release of "track ready" cars. If I'm spending house money on a car, I want it to be able to turn heads, go relatively fast, and comfortably take me across the country if I wanted it to. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 04-01-2015 Yeah the Spyder looks pretty sweet. Im kind disappointed they didn't bring the GT4 though. Right now waiting for the Honda presser, then looking forward to the McLaren unveil. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 04-01-2015 Finally, after over a decade of begging, we're getting a Civic Type-R Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 04-02-2015 How have I not heard about this? TRD Pro version of Tundra that "competes" against the Raptor? Seems to do it fairly well although there are some features on a loaded out Raptor that are pretty frickin sweet: http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/feat ... -test.html
Re: Automotive News Discussion - Mike - 04-02-2015 Doesn't look 1/10th as awesome so nope. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 04-02-2015 I posted that a while ago and everyone lol'ed. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 04-02-2015 Show Notes Focus RS *Will be imported from Germany *Will be 315+ hp but they really don't know final spec because they haven't certified engine. Will probably be a good amount more *Production numbers will be lower than ST but they have some room to increase production to meet demand *Plenty of brake ducting and air management under the car to handle track day duty *Only options will be upgraded seats, moonroof, forged wheels and I think he said stereo. 570S I came by the McLaren booth a couple of times and talked to a couple of their people. The grey car looks better in person but I'm still not 100% sold on the looks. They kind of did something funny with the rear decklid. It's actually somewhat open so air that is routed from the sides and through the buttresses draws air out from the engine. The reason they did this was that the 570S engine bay is smaller than the 650 and so they could spec smaller radiators and thus keep weight down. 570S doesn't have all of the active suspension trickery of the 650S and P1. Has conventional swaybars (adjustable) and electronically adjustable shocks. It has upgrades to all of the electronic aides, but at the same time all the screens in the car had static lines and flicker. They probably should've left those turned off... One of the McLaren guys said that you will be able to by a 540C for less money with less power and no carbon ceramic brakes (the ceramics are standard on the 570s). But he might've been mistaken, I thought the 540C would only be sold in China. To be honest McLaren's press unveil was kind of lame, not to mention they had a big ass boom camera blocking the cars. I think they need to work a bit on selling the sizzle and the steak. I also suspect that they will have to do some actual marketing to sell a volume car like this rather than relying on word-of-mouth like they have been. Civic Type-R *We'll definitely get it, after the all-new sedan, coupe, and 5-door body styles drop *It won't be the Euro CTR going on sale soon *They haven't said what body style it will be on, but my bet is that they'll just make one global 5-door CTR. 4-door would be second choice. *Sounds like they're aiming to have a car that is as much or more hardcore than the previous CTR's Re: Automotive News Discussion - Jake - 04-02-2015 Tundra is snoozy because Toyota. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Tyler.M - 04-04-2015 I wish Toyota kept the FJ around and did a sweet version of that. I love those things Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 04-27-2015 This is only "news" to me, that there is a 4-cyl mustang again. But who the hell is the Roush version for? ![]() A $7K package of hood scoop and floormats and badges so it looks ludicrously aggressive but gets walked by almost any other "performance" car sold today? I can't think of many worse ways to spend $35K+ Re: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 04-27-2015 I rode in a 4 cylinder Mustang on the cruise. It was very meh. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 04-27-2015 This is for the customer for whom looks are more important than performance. Because for $35k you can just buy a GT. I am curious to see what they can get out of that Ecoboost 4-cylinder with a chip and light mods though. Especially with the Focus RS on the horizon. |
