in his defense if someone told me i was going to sit down to a ribeye and then dropped off a plate of cold chicken bits on bread instead, i'd probably fight someone

add in "After 8 pints" and probably turns into definitely

its also worth mentioning that its not like he haymaker'ed the guy and KO'ed him. you can get a bloody nose from blowing your nose too hard.

of course, he is still an asshole, but he wouldnt be interesting to watch if he wasnt. catch-22

That would be a Code Red on the Keepin'-it-Real-o-meter.

Reminds of this woman flipping out at McDonald's. I think they didn't have any fries:

He posted that early in the morning before they released the official statement. There was a rumor going around the night before saying he was sacked.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 03-30-2015

Mclaren 570S. 562 hp, under 3000 lbs approximately $150k.

I was looking forward to this car but the styling is bleeecchhh. Could be nice with some small tweaks but right now I'd rather have a GT3 or something. But with the power to weight it'll be properly quick, so there's that.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 03-30-2015

Am I the only one who has never been all that interested in the baby McLaren's? They seem so...snythetic and without character. Kind of bland "general supercar" styling, except for the front end, where they've gone all wrong for what, 3 iterations now? I'm sure they're rocketships but they don't really do anything for me.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 03-30-2015

I agree, Goody. The "budget" Mclarens do absolutely nothing for me.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 03-31-2015

Yeah thats been the journalist line since they came out. But journalists have to have something to write about, and you guys are insane for agreeing with them.
Id take a 650s over a 458,488, lambo or anything else in that price range a hundred times.

that 570 they sure did fuck up the headlights though

Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 03-31-2015

So most of the people that can afford this shit are like, one good scare from the grave. I think McClaren is smart to fill the niche of a high performance super car that doesn't look like it was styled by a 12 year old on a pretty stiff psychedelic cocktail and is capable of getting it's octogenarian cargo over a speed bump without fracturing a hip.

I agree that the styling is kind of meh, but if someone came up to me with the keys to a 650S (is that the most recent smaller one?) and a 458 and told me to pick one, I mean, do you take the plain jane one that's almost certainly a "better" car, or the drop dead sexy Ferrari that will most likely burn down the first time you drive it?

I'd prolly take the old man special and daily drive it. I sat it one a while ago and in person the interior kick ass, very minimalist and driver focused, extremely comfortable, nicer than the Ferrari IMO.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 03-31-2015

Ferrari all day over this, I don't even know who you guys are anymore

Re: Automotive News Discussion - Evan - 03-31-2015

interesting that the R8 got none of that slack, despite the fact it looks boring as shit, and could be easily mistaken by a non-car person for a TT

Yeah I mean the 488 and Huracan are both at least $50k more than this car if not $70k, and in the case of the 488 you couldn't walk into a dealership and buy one anyway, the wait list is a year long.

Quote:that 570 they sure did fuck up the headlights though
That's the bad, and good part of this car. If they just tweak the headlights I think the car would look a lot better. Different colors also might help the looks a bit:

The F-car may be faster and sexier but it also costs a lot more, and Ferrari is probably the best example of 'paying for the privilege of being treated poorly' in the automotive world. On the bright side the Ferrari dealer network is bigger than Mclaren's so service should be easier (albeit gougetacular).

I honestly don't understand why people like the R8 so much. It certainly looks different, but it's not sexy and could be mistaken for a car that costs $100k less. Maybe Tony Stark's endorsement is worth more than I thought.

The handling dynamics are "alright". I never understood the 100k+ supercar that was "oh good for everyday". Drove the R8 at Summit Point and was disappointed by the visceral experience. Yeah it was fairly quick but honestly I had more fun in their RS5 than the R8. You are paying for special, but then paying to actually get a "pedestrian experience". Same with the Mclaren. Lackluster exhaust note, meh looks, I don't care how fast it is. Cool story bro about that "nurburgring time.

Honestly, I'd rather have a minty fresh 512 over almost any supercar built in the last 20 years.

Boom.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 03-31-2015

The thing with supercars is that if it is streetable you'll actually drive it more. The cars that are a pain to drive around every day collect dust in a garage. And ultimately if the car is not streetable, you might as well buy a real car made for the track like a Radical, BAC Mono, or ex race-car.

The trick becomes how do you make the car easy to live with, but exciting when you drop the hammer. Not many cars do a great job at this. The newer Ferraris are better on that front and the MP4-12C/650S are supposedly excellent at that. As far as the exhaust note, the 488 is probably going to sound significantly worse now that it's going turbo. Same with E90 M3 vs F80 M3.

Looks wise, for me the MP4-12C and 650S fall below the Ferrari but above the Huracan, R8, and 911.
