Re: The WANT Thread - JustinG - 05-13-2013 I have a solar powered G-shock, I have had it for about 8 years. It has been run over, submerged in salt and pool water for long periods, beat on, scratched up, etc, etc, etc. Best watch I have ever owened. I wear it everyday. Kinda want a new one. ![]() Also have a Bulova dress watch I rarely wear. Im ROUGH on watches so the thought of spending over a couple hundred bucks on a watch seems like a waste of money to me. Yeah they are super durable, good to hear your solar is still holding up despite the abuse. G-shocks are pricier now than they used to be...they make a few models that are $450+ which is a little ridiculous to me. Our office pitched in and bought the boss this one for his upcoming birthday. I tried one on at Belk the other day; it is big, ridiculous and awesome:
Re: The WANT Thread - CaptainHenreh - 05-13-2013 I feel pretty naked without a watch, but so far haven't found a decent replacement for my war-torn Citizen. All new watch faces are TOO BIG. Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-13-2013 Some of the new Diesels are absurdly big. Citizen is a good brand to stick with if you want a not gigantic face. I think the one I'm wearing today is 42mm. All new watch faces are TOO BIG. This. Last I went watch shopping, I tried all manner of reasonably priced watches from huge display cases chock full of them and they were all stupidly massive. I just said eff it and bought a cheap ass Timex "military" strap watch off Amazon cuz it works and won't make me cry when I destroy it. Re: The WANT Thread - Apoc - 05-13-2013 I love watches, but I hate wearing them at a computer. I work with someone who wears a watch every day and the first thing he does when he gets to work is take it off. He'll even leave it lying on his desk when he goes off the meetings. That just seems like a waste of effort and a good way to get it stolen. Re: The WANT Thread - Evan - 05-20-2013 these wheels ![]() bad must resist. Re: The WANT Thread - SlimKlim - 05-20-2013 So much want, why am I poor?
Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-20-2013 Yes Evan, yes Re: The WANT Thread - Ginger - 05-20-2013 Hey, Evan, why don't you start with a new battery? I did however hit a stretch goal my boss set for me last month so he bought this for me: ![]() First leather band watch I will have owned in a long time. And now my Amazon wish list is like 20 watches longer after narrowing down my search for that. Haha..sigh. Re: The WANT Thread - Jeff - 06-08-2013 So much want... ![]() Breitling Navitimer, blue face with the ss bracelet. Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 06-08-2013 One of my coworkers has basically that exact watch with a black face, it is big heavy and awesome. http://www.goldwatchco.com/Browse/Produ ... 7AodmH4ArA I personally would feel guilty putting that much money on my wrist....it is so frivolous. Those types of watches are good to shop the used market for. I found a Citizen Ecodrive copycat of the Navitimer style that is much more affordable and wears incredibly. I tried it on at the store the other day and it is high on my short list: ![]() Video: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/ ... nt_fb_link Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 06-08-2013 This one also made the list before I decided on the Tissot: http://www.amazon.com/Bulova-96A136-BVA ... DQ1EN16SU6 ![]() That is about as good of a price as you will find on a decent quality true automatic. I have been hunting for a skeletonized auto for a bit and this or a variant of it (there are several) might be it. Re: The WANT Thread - Jeff - 06-08-2013 I have quite a few Invicta watches including one automatic. They are really nice for the dollar. Re: The WANT Thread - WRXtranceformed - 06-09-2013 Decided after the backbreaking labor of moving a bunch of stuff for my fiance into the house this weekend I would reward myself with one more watch before the wedding. I have been wanting a reasonably priced "doomsday watch" that I could wear everyday. Looked at a few of the Pathfinders before finding mention of this in the watch forums. Unfortunately the two "blacked out" variants that I want appear to be pretty rare (Asian-spec, never sold in the US) and the one I REALLY want is atomic as well as solar. Also unfortunately the latter is no longer sold or made. My boss actually has the solar/atomic version and is bringing it in tomorrow so I can check it out. He is putting some feelers out there to see if I can find it...if not the atomic only version is still an incredible watch: ![]() Key features: - Solar powered (6 months life with normal use and light exposure, 20 months in the darkness in power save mode) - Altimeter - Barometer w/ tendency graph - Digital compass with various calculation functions and declination correction - Sick Indiglo-style backlight for numbers when lit - Low temp resistant to 14*F - Thermometer - Tide Graph & moon data - World time (easy to swap time zones when traveling, not as easy as the atomic that automatically updates though) - Water resistant to 20BAR (~652 feet) Re: The WANT Thread - CaptainHenreh - 06-09-2013 I'd love an inverted LCD atomic g-shock...so much that I've considered having it done aftermarket. |
