Re: Project 1998 M3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 06-13-2011

I forgot to mention, if you dont want to deal with any rubber and inputting more camber, go with 245s, 255s require a bit moer camber and just a bit of fender rolling.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 06-13-2011

so you wouldn't recommend 225/45's? I'm trying to stick with stock rim size

Re: Project 1998 M3 - D_Eclipse9916 - 06-13-2011

225s would be okay if you didnt want optimal handling
245s will give you much more grip on the road.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Sully - 06-13-2011

I have 235's on a stock rim and no spacers and I am lowered proabably about an inch but i could definatley use some spacer. I am rather close.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - BLINGMW - 06-13-2011

don't know what you plan on doing with them, but the 225 would be a better choice for the street IMHO, assuming they're cheaper. And if they're the same compound as the 245-255, then they'll have as much grip too unless you get them too hot (which shouldn't happen on the street, or even an autocross). And they'll usually go better in water and snow too.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 06-13-2011

interesting. the oz's i'm looking at on tire rack are fitted for 225's, but i'm sure you can squeeze some 245's on them. I'm not really looking to track it, just looking for a good DD tire set up, as the staggered set up is cool, but never very good for tire wear. The oz's are 17x8's and everyone seems to like TS-1's, so I might shoot for those

Tyler.M Wrote:ooooo kayyy. I'll start restoring the rims i got (Contours and DSII's) and sell them for the OZ's. Thanks DJ

I know a guy here in NoVA who wants a set of Contours. PM me a price and I'll pass it along to him.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 06-17-2011

SO,

It's summertime and its time to do some work on my sled. Just to keep me on track, I'm putting up a list of sh*t that I want to do before the summer is over:

RTAB replacement- Completed 6/20/2011
RSM replacement
Cooling System overhaul
Figure out if the slight squeal is coming from a pulley or belt, replace that while i'm in there.
Front and Rear strut bars
X brace underneath
New wheels (square set-up) BTW if anyone comes across any nice LTW's lemme know. I have two sets of m3 wheels I'd be willing to trade.
Intake (at some point, not too concerned with that)
ASC delete perhaps? ASC sucks.
Chip it!

Cosmetic Stuff
Remove the fugly window tint on it now. Debating whether I should take it to crutchfield and get it done for 65$ or go through the hellish torment that is removing window tint.
Also want to replace the brackets for the bumper and the fender lining too.
Gaskets on the door handles, since they're cracking
regrease the rails for the window on the drivers side door
replace head lining (not drooping too bad)
GET SOME NEW FLOOR MATS
M3 pedals
Replace the gauge cluster bulbs and apply new coat of adhesive to the underlay
fix the radio backlight problem with solder and luck
Repaint the window ledge trim
Repaint the front spoiler or get a new one and reinstall
ANGEL EYES
Fix those annoying spots on my hood that I can't ever get clean
Get the dent under the right headlight pulled out
Fix the heated drivers seat problem (won't heat, probably the elements or the wiring).

This car has been a dream though. It'll be a long summer working on it and everything, but hopefully I'll get it to the point where it looks exactly like I want it look. Also, I know much of this stuff probably won't be completed, but it'll be a list that I'll try to get through anyways. Dream big right?

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 09-10-2011

Headliner is in. It took me 5 hours of pain to do that. Hopefully, I never have to do that again.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Sully - 09-10-2011

Call up Mike D'Amico next time. Not counting time to wrap it becasue he was using a replacement from someones race car, I think it took him 20-30 minutes with only a little screw driver trackside at Summit Point.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 09-13-2011

Wellllll shit. I hope there isn't a next time, but next time there is I'll look him up.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Tyler.M - 09-15-2011

btw, if anyone knows where to find a z3 coupe with the 3.0l, let me know. I love my car, but I like the z3 better, oddly enough.

Water damage isn't that bad.... right? RIGHT!?

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Sully - 09-15-2011

Remember, we need to trade seats first

EDIT: Wait wait wait, the hood is peeling from rain :evileye:

That is probably the sketchiest for sale ad I have seen in a long time. He drove the car into a puddle? He has a stock intake, either he did it at 40MPH or the puddle was actually a lake that was 3 feet deep.

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Jake - 09-15-2011

Group buy on clownshoe Z3M's? I want.

WTF you're right.... damn northerners, getting my hopes up and shit.

Jake, I think we should totally do a group buy. We could custom paint it, and turbo charge it! mwahahaha

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Jake - 09-16-2011

I was soo close to buying a technoviolet m3 2 weeks ago. Went to buy it and made an offer, another guy made an offer 50 bucks more than mine. Wasnt willing to fight another buyer over it. Point is, I want technoviolet...

Re: Project 1998 M3 - Ken - 09-16-2011

FYI Merrick is south shore, right by where there was massive flooding from Irene. Probably where this, "puddle" occured.
