Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - Jake - 09-10-2010 ScottyB Wrote:thats a pretty radiator. I love the aluminum radiator look in a clean engine bay. Should be a nice upgrade, Rex. The Miata's stock rad was plastic-topped and starting to weep where the plastic meets metal. I've been very happy with my no-name aluminum replacement. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - NTIman - 09-11-2010 t-belt looks to be in pretty decent shape Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - CaptainHenreh - 09-17-2010 Purchase Price: $6000.00 Taxes: $202.75 "H6" Rear Brake Brackets: $64.04 CX Racing all aluminum Radiator: $133.99 Front Rotors: $42.98 H6 Rear Rotors: $36.35 WRX STI catless Up-pipe: $50 TOTAL: $6530.11 :-D Who knows when I'll get those last two on, but can't complain about the price. eta: bitch sold the downpipe from underneath me.
Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - Apoc - 09-17-2010 I bet that's less than I'll pay for a new HVAC. ![]() In fairness though, you have to include the first year's worth of repairs.
Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - ScottyB - 09-17-2010 sumbitch....and i thought i found a bargain on my exhaust parts. wha...how? Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - DavidL - 09-17-2010 Heh... enjoy the up-pipe install
Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - Jeff - 09-18-2010 Glad its coming along well. Pics! Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - flintster55 - 09-21-2010 I have a downpipe for sale too if you're still looking for one. It's a stromung (I think) short version so it still leaves your 3rd cat in place. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - flintster55 - 09-21-2010 It's actually a Bosal shorty and has a divorced wastegate tube that runs back into the downpipe. This exactly what I have and looks just like mine. ![]() They go for over $100 on nasioc all the time. So negative on the 25 dolla. I'll do 100 if you want it Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - NTIman - 09-23-2010 Another update: The T-belt is on, along with new water pump, and thermostat. The thermostat had been disassembled by someone at some point, who knows that that was about. Radiator is installed. Looks awesome, fit extremely well. For what Rex paid for it, it's definitely awesome. The intake kind of covers up where it says CX Racing, which kind of sucks. But what really sucks, is trying to get the air out of the cooling system. I gave up for tonight, it's been a long day of working on cars. Pics soon. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - JustinG - 09-23-2010 You sure are gonna have a lot of PBR to drink after all this work your doin for Rex. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - NTIman - 09-27-2010 I don't even drink beer, but after trying to purge the air out of the cooling system, I'm going to have to start. Today I took the day off to work on the Gravel Express. I did a compression test, with all 4 cylinders even at 145 PSI, installed new plugs, changed the differential fluids, and installed new front rotors. Tomorrow I'm going to give another whack at getting the air out of the system, and possibly install the bigger rear rotors, caliper brackets and pads. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - V1GiLaNtE - 09-27-2010 May the Subaru gods be with you.. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - Apoc - 09-28-2010 Wait, so you're still not driving the car Rex? Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - CaptainHenreh - 09-28-2010 Apoc Wrote:Wait, so you're still not driving the car Rex? I am still driving the World's Worst Kia, listening to Sean Hannity on my way to GMU every monday, since the FM radio doesn't work in the fucking thing. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - CaptainHenreh - 10-20-2010 IT LIVES Purchase Price: $6000.00 Taxes: $202.75 "H6" Rear Brake Brackets: $64.04 CX Racing all aluminum Radiator: $133.99 Front Rotors: $42.98 H6 Rear Rotors: $36.35 WRX STI catless Up-pipe: $50 Maintenance: $555 TOTAL: $7085.11 So the reason it took so long was due to a bad fan relay. See, SOMEBODY (and I'm not naming any names *cough*WPAA*cough*) instead of finding the busted relay, just gutted the thermostat. So Jason replaced the thermostat, but then lo and behold, the car overheats! The busted relay is finally discovered, replaced, and all is well. The H6 Rear brakes still have yet to be done, I intend to tackle those very soon. I'm also shopping for some 16" snow tires, so if anyone sees a hellacious deal, please lmk. ALSO, she passed Northern VA emissions, which is, apparently, a bit of a joke on an AWD car. "No CEL, good seal on the gas tank? Ok, have fun." After going to the DMV for all of 15 minutes, (note to self: buy a lottery ticket today) my OMG TRBO plates are now on the Gravel Express, and on the way out I got the joy of this exchange: DMV Security Guard: Noticing my Subaru fleece jacket Oh, you're a Subaru guy, eh? Me: Yeah. DMV Security Guard: Ooooh, I'm an Audi guy. We don't get along. Me: Yeah. Well, have fun with your Check Engine Lights. DMV Security Guard: Dude. Harsh Anyway, after more than a month of driving that Kia, this thing feels like a goddamn rocketship. Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - PDenbigh - 10-20-2010 Nice wit on the DMV conversation :-). Good work on the car too - have fun! Tracking it at Summit in November I assume??? Nah, I'll be there, and if hyperdrive spots are left I might do that, but probably not. Still alot of work I want to do, and by november I hope to have the snow tires mounted. Maybe next year? |
