- Mike - 01-14-2009 holy fucking cockyballs. was in the shower and missed some of my low targets (set to give me profit even if things went ugly). might as well hold now... - Apoc - 01-14-2009 You don't use stop orders? - Mike - 01-14-2009 no, they cost extra money, and i'm never 100% on anything. - .paul - 01-14-2009 what brokerage accounts do you all use? - ViPER1313 - 01-14-2009 Awesome, I'm already down 8% on my sweet Ford investment  .paul - I use Scottrade. $7 trades and only $500 initial deposit. - Apoc - 01-14-2009 Scottrade - mrbaggio - 01-14-2009 Apoc Wrote:Scottrade same - Mike - 01-14-2009 etrade. $12.99/trade, but it's nice having it together with my savings (3%). thinking of switching to zecco.com. - Apoc - 01-14-2009 I've been through etrade and TD Waterhouse... I got nailed for inactivity fees at both. - Mike - 01-14-2009 http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10142 ... 47-1_3-0-5 check the after hours: http://finance.google.com/finance?q=AAPL great... - flintster55 - 01-14-2009 Etrade for me too. I have $9.99 a trade tho and real time quotes for OTC stocks. Like Mike said, having it linked to my online savings is one of the best features. - mrbaggio - 01-14-2009 You can link bank accounts under scottrade also. I have mine set up transfers are pretty quick - flintster55 - 01-14-2009 I might might switch over sometime soon. I already have checks and a atm card from Etrade though but at least they were free. Is it $7 every trade? Any hidden fees you guys have run into? - Apoc - 01-14-2009 flintster55 Wrote:Is it $7 every trade? Any hidden fees you guys have run into? Yes and no respectively. http://www.scottrade.com/online_trading ... /index.asp AAPL is just ridiculous. One man shouldn't be able to drive a stock price down 10%. - Dave - 01-14-2009 I use TradeKing and it is $4.95/trade every time, no hidden fees. Customer service has been terrific and they'll comp your transfer fees if you come in from another brokerage account. I have it linked to my savings account and all of my other deposits after the 1st have been immediately available to trade within 30 seconds. On quite a few occasions they have filled my order at prices better than my limit; they have real-time bid and ask prices in the order window so you can watch it if you want to try to snipe your price. I wanted my fees as low as possible so that it didn't eat into my profits, so I couldn't justify going with the others b/c they weren't offering anything else that I needed and couldn't get with TradeKing. They also have a referral program, so if any of you are interested in switching into TradeKing (do the research, you won't have any reason not to), please PM me with your name and email address. - .paul - 01-15-2009 for those who are seroius, look into interactivebrokers.com. zecco is solid if you put up the 2500. if you have an ING .. sharbuilder is decent. nice to know others gamble. DKO, SKF, SSO - they all made me bout 25k. find the fun stuff, step away from the penny stocks. - Dave - 01-15-2009 Tried to sell AAPL short as the price went up in the pre-market short squeeze, only to find out that I have to be approved for margin in order to short stocks. Damn, rookie mistake... I think it'll be in the 60s before the end of the day. |
