Petroleum is a finite resource. It toxic, causes cancer and our reliance upon it makes us dependent upon some shitbag countries.

Why not invest in renewable resources? It seems like a win win. Creating a "Green" industry generates new revenue streams, releases us from having to deal with the middle east and in terms of cars, electric motors have infinite torque. What's not to love?

- Goodspeed - 01-30-2008

We're talking about the horsepower war and the threat to the sports car, not investment in renewable resources (different topic). Presuming that automaker's need to quit sports cars to focus on renewable energy is rediculous...GM has been perfecting the 'Vette and SBC since the early 50's. They aren't dumping billions into sports cars, but they are in renewable energy development.

As far as I'm concerned, the way people drive and sue car companies these days, every car has too much horsepower.

Why do companies build a 300 hp car, and then put traction control to kill the power? Because people can't drive.

average joes make car purchasing comparisons based on numbers. this car has more cupholders, speakers, airbags, horsepowerz, whatever....that makes it "more better."

plus, as Goodspeed noted, cars are all fatasses any more. people want to drive their living rooms around so they "need" that power. kinda OT but i took a look at an article in R&T yesterday....the shelby GT500KR weighs 4000 pounds! holy hell....it's a 2+2 sports coupe, not a CAT!

My truck is shockingly shy on cupholders... I should do something about that...

Buy a new Seqouia. I think they have like 16 or 18.

And yeah, we had to learn that for work.

Wow, dude, now I really do feel inferior... I've only got two.

my Monte Carlo has zero cupholders. I guess they didn't believe in them back then

Well, when you have an automatic Monte Carlo, you can just hold your Orange Big Gulp in one hand while you cruise through the 'hood. (If I can pimp $20 ho's out the back of this motherfucking Chevy...although I think that was a Malibu.)
