holy crap! oncoming traffic! that's pretty bad, what a f-ing toolbag of a driver

i definitely need some supertones as well. group buy?

Maengelito Wrote:group buy?

i don't know if it would be much benefit for me if a bunch of MM'ers jumped in on it, since i'm so far away.

I've actually got a new uninstalled set of Hella's that need a good home. I'll dig them up tomorrow and put 'em in the for sale section.

i definitely could use these as i laid on the horn for a good 2 minutes straight at a minivan that cut me off on the way to work this morning.

Or we could just take the drivers licenses from your people

- Maengelito - 09-17-2007

ummm, it was the minivan that cut me off, not me cutting myself off...

thanks, assholes. i could have gone without blasting through the orgies you were having all over the highway. these guys were so numerous it sounded like rain was hitting the car. i had to pull over and squeegee the worst of them off at a gas station.

Jen and i felt crazy and made a random trip down to Panama City this weekend (great time of year to go, btw).

i left work early only to hit major storms, and major storms = major wrecks and atlanta is only too happy to oblige in that department. it took me over an hour longer than normal to make it home, and then we hit rough traffic all through lower atlanta in an attempt to escape. i left work at 3:30, and i think we hit alabama at close to 8.

we then went through what had to be the worst possible part of tropical storm Humberto on the way down. picture being in the middle of boy-howdy alabama, 10 pm, utter darkness because there's no civilization, and biblical rain. the speed limit on rt. 431S is 65.....i was barely managing 30 with the wipers maxed out and couldn't see at any speed higher than that, although the car showed no need to slow down. the lightning was so intense it was like someone was flashing camera flashes in my face repeatedly. we were getting desperate and eventually found a gas station to pull over in and after we did, lightning hit the station and the entire place plunged into darkness! i honestly wasn't scared, but i was starting to wonder what could possibly happen next.

we continued on after failing to "wait out" the worst of the storm, just keeping an eye on the reflectors in the highway for guidance. we made it to Euphaula and the whole town was flooding. at some points the wake we made was throwing water over the hood. i have a feeling that if we got there an hour later the route we took would have been impassable. i think at some point in lower alabama we finally made it out of the worst and hit the fog  so we couldn't make up any time. we finally rolled into Panama City at 1 AM eastern time. it was a hell of a trip but the ol' suby never missed a beat. and for all the low speed crawling we did, my milage never dropped below 28 mpg.

the weekend was awesome and on the way back we did the trip in 5.5 hours, doing 70 mph+ and over 30 mpg. of course, we hit the afforementioned love bug (yes, they're called that) plague so i didn't get out totally clean. those bugs were so intense it was like hitting Humberto again, if it was raining horny bugs intsead. my windshield was a mess, i would have much preferred rain.

great car to travel in, plenty of power, good stereo and seats, and pretty decent wipers  ....i never felt a loss of confidence in the car through all of the craziness we drove through, it just wanted to go! after a 650 mile round trip i definitely feel more in touch with the car and i'm getting alot better at feeling out the information it feeds me.

can't wait to put on the new rear sway and i think some better front pads are in order eventually. otherwise, i need to wash this thing, BAD!

Scott if you and Jen make it up to see me in SC I'll help you clear out your headlights, it would look really good on your car! =D

i'm so taking you up on that offer

i'm too much of a puss to bake my lights without someone telling me what to do, ha

- WRXtranceformed - 09-19-2007

Ha ha no worries, it's scary the first time u do it. I've done it on several different types of cars so we'll be in good shape =)

- ScottyB - 09-24-2007

got the old tranny fluid drained and the Extra-S put in. also took some time to get under the back of the car and take out the wimpy stock 13mm bar and plug in the 20mm early WRX rear bar. man, that stocker is like a wet noodle....i'm amazed it does anything.

drain plug had some metallic goop on the magnet built into it...hopefully that's normal and it's just doin it's job.

we'll see how things feel tommorow, no time for a test drive today.

- Maengelito - 09-24-2007

i think every car i've ever drained tranny fluid out of had some metal bits sticking to the magnetic drain plug. i figure thats why it comes with a magnetic drain plug from the factory because its probably expected. i wouldnt worry about it unless some of the chunks were big

- ScottyB - 09-24-2007

Maengelito Wrote:i wouldnt worry about it unless some of the chunks were big

not too worried, just observing. no big chunks either, just some "dusty" looking stuff.

i like the Extra-S...not a huge improvement, but an improvement none the less. the shift action is smoother but the tranny noise is just as it was before.

- WRXtranceformed - 09-24-2007

Next time you swap it out, try the Redline stuff...it's expensive but I like it. I switched to all Redline fluids in my car and have noticed a pretty decent difference in how smooth it runs / shifts and about a 2-3mpg increase in fuel efficiency.

cool, i'll probably go with that next. i liked motul as well but it can be pricey and hard to find.
