Interesting COINCIDENCE with that Albo jerk....

oh damn! Didn't see that one. Better ditch the MM stickers. :|

I wonder if you get one of those for driving with one of those parking tags hanging from your rearview mirror?

I dont have any mirrors on the bike - totally unobstructed views

it's illegal to hang anything from the rearview mirror of a moving vehicle. I just wish they'd pull people over for hanging those stupid CD's from the rearview, damn things reflect all sorts of sunlight

I actually bet it doesn't work. Not for the reason Derek cited, though.

Jess already told us that a lot of her clients are in trouble because they can't pay their tickets as it. If I get a $1,050 failure to signal ticket I guarantee you I can't pay it cash. Oh, and Chris, Judges aren't given any leeway with the fines under the new fee schedule - if you get the ticket that's your fine - period - kind of puts a hole in the "well, it's to prevent accidents" theory. It's not. It's extortion. If people simply can't pay what willl the state do?

*Suspend licenses and increase fines they can't collect on?
*Use collections agencies? Either the agencies will take a cut of what they collcet on or the state will fund them directly... either way, lost revenue for the state - and there will be lots of defaults. Collections agencies don't even collect a very high percentage of what they're tasked with, anyways.
*Put fines on top of fines? That'll help... right.
*Damage people's credit? Well, that does to bad things for the money multiplier and people's abilties to spend (especially since cash savings is at an all time low and the multiplied is at a high).. and then people can't spend in general.

Taken to extrmes? Really, what will they do when people can't pay $4,000 speeding tickets and carry $750/yr points fines? How will people even earn the money to pay their fines if they can't drive to work because their TWELVE POINTS from TWO tickets suspends their liscense, and the fees keep them from reinstating it? What, will they put people in jail over tickets? Well, that won't generate any revenue...

... put people in jail and you've got to spend money to keep them alive.

And what if people's driving habits change because of these tickets? I, for one, won't get a single ticket during these price hikes. They won't collect any money if offenders don't offend... and then they'll have to raise regular taxes, which is a double edged sword because we won't be able to drive like normal people (because of the high fee schedule), and we'll get increased normal taxes. Of course, this is the kind of shit that'll get those parties responsible voted out of office, anyways.

And what of the justice of the penal code at all? Seriously, the whole thing is royally fucked up.

Oh, and yeah, hanging tag parking permits count as obstructions.

That's why they all say "Don't hang while driving."

How do you think I knew? I was responding to RJ and Channing.

Senator written.

- Mike - 06-26-2007

jim webb is my neighbor... hrm...

- HAULN-SS - 06-26-2007

Make sure he got my letter for me? heh

- John - 06-27-2007

Not sure why you're writing Jim Webb - he's not part of the state legislature.

- Mike - 06-27-2007

hehe that's what i was thinking too, but i didn't say it Tongue

- HAULN-SS - 06-27-2007

Yes I know he's not part of the state legislature...but seemed like a good idea to start at the top and work down.

- Mike - 06-27-2007

but... but... he isn't the top of this. he frankly doesn't give a damn about this...

- HAULN-SS - 06-27-2007

Think he probably would have no influence at all on what the state does?

- Mike - 06-27-2007

correct. he's just our representative at the federal level. if you felt this new legislation was stepping on the toes of some federal legislation, then writing him a letter might be nice, but until you find that federal legislation, you've got nothing.

you need to contact your local representative.

So why does it matter if he's your neighbor?

- HAULN-SS - 06-27-2007

The link lets you look up who your particular delegate and legislator are..and write them both a letter at the same time

- Ginger - 06-27-2007

I know what it does... but you're the one trying to write them.
