- WRXtranceformed - 12-17-2007 Oh John I meant to ask: What's it like owning a modified car like that in CA? On all of the boards I'm on, I've always heard from the people that live there that the cops are like nazis when it comes to aftermarket intakes, exhausts, etc due to the poor air quality in a lot of areas. Have you been harassed at all or been forced to pop your hood? - ScottyB - 12-17-2007 car looks awesome  - .RJ - 12-17-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:On all of the boards I'm on, I've always heard from the people that live there that the cops are like nazis when it comes to aftermarket intakes, exhausts, etc due to the poor air quality in a lot of areas. I believe thats usually the riceboi crowd. Ride around in a lowered/tinted/HID'd/fart can'd civic and you get harassed. I say good for them
- PDenbigh - 12-17-2007 That is gorgeous! Damn I'm jealous ;-). Nice work and congrats on such a sweet car. - Apoc - 12-17-2007 You need a license plate that says WINE HOR. - John - 12-17-2007 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Oh John I meant to ask: What's it like owning a modified car like that in CA? Have you been harassed at all or been forced to pop your hood? Believe it or not, the emissions standards here in California are the same as in NoVA, the biggest difference on being that aftermarket parts have to go through a CARB certification process (just another means for California to make money). Also, cars under 4 years old don't require SMOG unlike VA that requires it after two years. Reality is that if your car looks stock and isn't too loud, most cops won't bug you or ask you to pop your hood (tubes and crap like that in the engine bay are going to be another dead-giveaway). My car attracts a ton of attention (since nobody knows what the hell it is) and is pretty loud with my OEM "Stage II" exhaust, but even if I get pulled over, an officer is going to have no idea what he's looking at - plus the blower is under a cover (although my car passed SMOG with it on anyways). On a side note, there have been reports of people getting "fix-it" tickets and harassed by cops for stock Evos... LOL - Ryan T - 12-17-2007 John, are emissions state-wide in California or is it restricted to the more populated areas (NOVA) like it is in Virginia? - Ginger - 12-17-2007 Ryan T Wrote:John, are emissions state-wide in California or is it restricted to the more populated areas (NOVA) like it is in Virginia? From what I understand, that's set to change over the next few years... but I don't know much about it
- John - 12-17-2007 Ryan T Wrote:John, are emissions state-wide in California or is it restricted to the more populated areas (NOVA) like it is in Virginia? I think it's most of the state, minus a few select farming areas. - WRXtranceformed - 12-17-2007 Yeahhh that's right, I remember hearing that the CARB certification was important. And yeah that's a good point, I'm sure most of the cops there have looked under the hoods of a billion Civics and EVOs, but would have probably no idea what a stock Lotus engine bay would look like  - navin - 12-17-2007 asteele2 Wrote:Ryan T Wrote:John, are emissions state-wide in California or is it restricted to the more populated areas (NOVA) like it is in Virginia? fuuuck I hope not, or else its time to buy a trailer for the Civic. - Feersty - 12-17-2007 John, that car is hot dude. I need a ride! - Ginger - 12-17-2007 navin Wrote:asteele2 Wrote:Ryan T Wrote:John, are emissions state-wide in California or is it restricted to the more populated areas (NOVA) like it is in Virginia? I was wrong But the emissions still stick for NOVA, of course
- navin - 12-17-2007 *phew* scared me for a minute. - John - 12-20-2007 Anybody have any innovative ideas for a numbering scheme for vinyl track numbers? Car finally gets Exige seats with harnesses last weekend of December - will likely take out the seat belts as you can't see shit behind you anyways and turning your head is futile... Forgot to add the laughable total repair amount for her insurance company: $31,727.66 + rentals. Diminished value claim on the way... LOL - .RJ - 12-20-2007 John Wrote:Anybody have any innovative ideas for a numbering scheme for vinyl track numbers? Gold wheels. - Steve85 - 12-21-2007 A forward leaning 3... I rarely see an Elise and have never seen one with your color combo, very cool. - John - 02-12-2008 "Invisible Car Syndrome" strikes again! Just got punted in the rear by a lifted Dodge Ram that didn't see me. Back to the body shop my car goes... they should just give me a permanent garage space there. This was the car on Sunday:
- Hunter - 02-12-2008 Holy crap you have to be kidding. You have the worst luck with that car, hopefully it will be back much sooner this time. PS. That picture makes me all hot and bothered. - HAULN-SS - 02-12-2008 Did you have the same liscense plates on it? just wondering |
