good job RJ!!

- Dragon - 05-08-2006

Congrats to RJ on his victories. The weather absolutely sucked on Sunday, but all in all a great weekend. Too bad everyone left the track early, drunken mischief was had.

A few things to note for others:
1) Never dare drunken people that they can't drive the golf kart backwards around the paddock.
2) Never give drunken people access to two golf karts, they just may get it in their heads that now they should race one another backwards around the paddock.
3) Never look away from the kart, it may just disappear and then reappear a few minutes later with over 100 OG Racing stickers on it.
4) Never let the owner of the kart ride on it, he'll remove the governor and just may flip it during a backwards golf kart race.
5) Never tell us that there's no way we'll find a way onto the track, we just may take the golf kart out onto the highways of Kershaw to drive down the road a bit and cut through the forest in an attempt to get on the track. . . . . . . . only to discover that in fact a fence does go the entire way around the track. . . . DAMNIT.

This is all hypothetically speaking of course.

I'd just like to say... I called out from work today! and I am just now getting up... its a LONG pain in the ass ride to and from CMP. Here are some of the 115 pics i took this weekend.

The ride home from hell
[Image: wMTIzODA4NTZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx.jpg]

It was a great weekend... both Evan and RJ did very well. Pete was out running rwd + b00st in the rain... i only heard him bobble and save in turn 1 once. Saturday was great, weather, racing, everything... flipped golf karts... free beer.. etc. Sunday had the great racing, but the rain... and the drive... I dont know if i ever want to go back to Kershaw

edit: yes one day i will learn to resize pics... hell i just got a digital camera... i'm a little behind the times.

OOOOH did I mention that driving the 2nd pace car is fun. Oh and fuck the HC guys that take forever to form up on their standing start, had me leading the Miatas at less than 10mph around 13 while I waited for the "Green Flag" and "All clear in 1" call on the radio.

- PDenbigh - 05-08-2006

Great weekend! Every time I drive I fuel my passion for this sport. It's just so damn amazing. I'm at work but can't still when I start thinking about the weekend. My daydreams are dominated by visulations of the track to the point that my body tenses (read: pucker factor) when the thought of the kink hits.

I've already forgotten about the drive, well, mostly. The XR didn't run well on the first two sessions on Saturday, but after replacing the alternater and a few wires it was back to full boost terror. CMP is a fun course!

I'll get some video and pics posted soon. First I have to unpack, dry, and desand everything. Yes, everything.

Congrats to RJ and Evan on their sucessful races. We're a lucky club to have two talanted drivers like that.

- Evan - 05-08-2006

cliffs notes:
(full writeup with video later)

Saturday: big ignition problems. car kept dying and sputtering.
Still managed to put it on pole by .6
As Kaan's fantastic photography skills illustrate (couldnt you have taken a pic of me doing something right, asshole?!) I blew the start and missed my shift to 3rd. Dropped back to 3rd but made a pass for 2nd and finished there. not bad for only drivign the track once 3 years ago back when i was a hpde student

Sunday: 0wn3d the field in the wet (again) qualified on pole by 3 seconds. car was much better. The race was dry-ish with no rain. screwed the start (again) and dropped to 2nd. was faster but couldnt make any passes stick. lots of side by side. then i spun trying to take a wide line to get a run. finished 2nd

by far the worst drive home ever. horrendous rains, even noah stayed home. didnt get home until almost 3am

- Kaan - 05-08-2006

asshole? who called who a football? I'll see what i can dig up... as far as good picture... it was just a little pocket sized cam so once i upgrade i'll be able to take better pics, with zoom, etc.

- Andy - 05-08-2006

The drive sucked balls but I'm definitely going to CMP next year. It's not as bad as everyone says and the track looks awesome.

Congrats to Evan and RJ. It's great to have experienced guys in the club that are so willing to pass on the knowledge.

Guys were walking by and pointing at Pete's car saying, "Damn, that car is fast." etc etc

Props to Kaan and Matt for doing this shit every year. I will never work at CMP ever again. I didn't see fireants but we almost got washed off the grid.

Hey fucker, thanks a lot for cutting out the part where the ever so cool splitter threw the MM at you as you were released onto the track.

What was the ignition diagnosis?

- Kaan - 05-09-2006

I think they finally decided it was the coil.

- Evan - 05-09-2006

yeah the most likely point of failure is the coil pack. But usually those completely fail, not just when hot
After doing some research it could also just be bad grounds, or a bad crank angle sensor too.

In the E30's there is a pulse sensor ( crank position) that idf the wire rubs on the puilleys will arc at high rpm and cause weird driveability issues. Glad it worked out for you.
