- HAULN-SS - 05-04-2005 Turbo charging a Carbed V8 is no easy task. A son of a bitch to tune. - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 HAULN-SS Wrote:Turbo charging a Carbed V8 is no easy task. A son of a bitch to tune. Who said anything about complicated fuel leaks. EFI baby! - Mike - 05-04-2005 i can commit to at least one day of stripping next weekend. rather it be sunday cause i don't get back from vacation until late friday. - PDenbigh - 05-04-2005 Chad, you have a 4.6 Block, what would it take to build it up? Oh wait, you sold the heads didn't you...? - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 PDenbigh Wrote:Chad, you have a 4.6 Block, what would it take to build it up? Oh wait, you sold the heads didn't you...? Well, it is modular. We could probably score some heads off of a crown vic for pennies... - HAULN-SS - 05-04-2005 efi = ExpensIveF - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 HAULN-SS Wrote:efi = ExpensIveF Pssh. Don't hate. Megasquirt is less than 200 bucks, and injectors should come with any motor we get... - PDenbigh - 05-04-2005 I talked to Rick and told him that for $700 we'd do it, he countered and said that he really needs $800 (And still down from $1000), so to sorta preserve my rep in the XR world I consdeeded and told him we could do $800. $160 per car though, not bad. I told him that if we choose to do this that we could: 1. give him a 25% deposit, and 2. Coudlnt' pick them up until next week, and could he get the date extneded. Here's his response: Quote:Hello Peter, Let me check on getting it extended, and next weekend would be better for me as well since I will also have a friend from Harrisonburg who also was a JMU Alumni, over for a couple of days. In the mean time I will try to get you pictures so that this is not a complete site unseen situation. As far as the deposit, don't worry about it, just have the cash in hand when you guys come down. I am willing to do what I can to make this work for you guys so just let me know what you need. Thanks again As such, I'm still waiting on the definitive Yes or No from Chris and Ryan. Thanks, Peter - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 If he can extend it a week, we're golden. - white_2kgt - 05-04-2005 PDenbigh Wrote:Chad, you have a 4.6 Block, what would it take to build it up? Oh wait, you sold the heads didn't you...? way to much $$$ to build up a 4.6 and make power. I can build a 302 carbed w/ at a 1/3 the cost and make more power. Won't last as long, nor drive as good, but it will make power. I've already found a few 302's and 1 stroked 306 for less than 500 complete that would make great engines when the time comes. We'd just need a trans w/ clutch, I'm about to have an extra DS we can cut down and we'd be good to go. Of course I'd have it cut down and then sell it to the club .--chad - Evan - 05-04-2005 so what is wrong with the engine in the car? Save the headaches of a motor swap, jack up the boost a bit and put the money into the chassis and appearance - Chris - 05-04-2005 PDenbigh Wrote:I talked to Rick and told him that for $700 we'd do it, he countered and said that he really needs $800 (And still down from $1000), so to sorta preserve my rep in the XR world I consdeeded and told him we could do $800. $160 per car though, not bad. wow sounds great!! All we're waiting on is hearing from steve and parking services for a place to store them. On another note, I was in Calhoun's today and saw Robert from VA mustang and he offered to ask around for us to find a storage place. He'll be in work tomorrow morning so we can call him if another place doesn't work out. - HAULN-SS - 05-04-2005 i dont think GRM is about appearance. We have enough combined knowlegdge to scuff it up and put a fairly slick job on it ourselves, in a garage or whatever. Getting the suspension kinks worked out, and call it a day. - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 HAULN-SS Wrote:i dont think GRM is about appearance. The GRM challenge is a drag race, an auto cross, and a concourse. Appearance, especially the impression of a very well-sorted-out car, is very important. There have been some fast-as-hell junkers that lost the competition in the concourse. - Mike - 05-04-2005 Evan Wrote:so what is wrong with the engine in the car? Save the headaches of a motor swap, jack up the boost a bit and put the money into the chassis and appearance agreed, it only needs to last for one day. some used race tires, a decent suspension, clean it up, crank the boost, uncork the motor... golden. - PDenbigh - 05-04-2005 Mike Wrote:crank the boost, uncork the motor... golden. Like this? ;-) - CaptainHenreh - 05-04-2005 Crank it up to 11!! woot! - Evan - 05-04-2005 PDenbigh Wrote:Like this? ;-)I said a bit
- bassmangrammy - 05-04-2005 the knob goes to 11!!! - Chris - 05-04-2005 Aaron, I know its highly unlikely, but would the dealership have any free space in the far back of the parking lot we could use temporarily. |
