I talked to Rick and told him that for $700 we'd do it, he countered and said that he really needs $800 (And still down from $1000), so to sorta preserve my rep in the XR world I consdeeded and told him we could do $800. $160 per car though, not bad.
I told him that if we choose to do this that we could:
1. give him a 25% deposit, and
2. Coudlnt' pick them up until next week, and could he get the date extneded.
Here's his response:

way to much $$$ to build up a 4.6 and make power. I can build a 302 carbed w/ at a 1/3 the cost and make more power. Won't last as long, nor drive as good, but it will make power.
I've already found a few 302's and 1 stroked 306 for less than 500 complete that would make great engines when the time comes. We'd just need a trans w/ clutch, I'm about to have an extra DS we can cut down and we'd be good to go. Of course I'd have it cut down and then sell it to the club

so what is wrong with the engine in the car? Save the headaches of a motor swap, jack up the boost a bit and put the money into the chassis and appearance

All we're waiting on is hearing from steve and parking services for a place to store them.
On another note, I was in Calhoun's today and saw Robert from VA mustang and he offered to ask around for us to find a storage place. He'll be in work tomorrow morning so we can call him if another place doesn't work out.

i dont think GRM is about appearance. We have enough combined knowlegdge to scuff it up and put a fairly slick job on it ourselves, in a garage or whatever. Getting the suspension kinks worked out, and call it a day.

The GRM challenge is a drag race, an auto cross, and a concourse.
Appearance, especially the impression of a very well-sorted-out car, is very important. There have been some fast-as-hell junkers that lost the competition in the concourse.

agreed, it only needs to last for one day. some used race tires, a decent suspension, clean it up, crank the boost, uncork the motor... golden.
