Yeah there's your problem, blaze less, drive more. Mileage will definitely improve in a couple thousand miles. Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - Apoc - 05-13-2017 I'm approaching 800 miles and I'm making a point not to look at MPG until I get to at least 1000. As you see from my 911 thread, I really don't drive that much. I mean I drive almost every day, but I never really drive more than 8 miles from my house. I don't have much to add except to say the driver seat is perfectly fine now. I don't think I've gotten any smaller, so I'm gonna chalk it up to the stiff padding breaking in. Oh, I did get an oil change notice around 500 miles. I made an appt at the dealer, figured it was some break in business, but they ended up sending me home with a quick reset. Apparently it has triggered a year since manufacturer date. I didn't even bother looking at the manual. We picked up a lightweight second car seat for plane rides and so we can use the GTI in a punch. I'm surprised to report that it's possible to keep a car seat rear facing and still fit my wife in the front seat. She said she wouldn't want to do a road trip in it, but it was fine for quick trips around town where having a car smaller than the 328xi would be beneficial. Bonus points for them having one that matches the plaid so damn well. If I could get a car sear in that plaid, I probably would have. For all I know, it exists... but again, didn't really bother. ![]() ![]()
Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - Apoc - 06-15-2017 Someone talk me out of a cold air intake and exhaust. Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - JustinG - 06-15-2017 Yeah sounds like a horrible idea. -Prius Owner Re: Project? Nah... Way more oontz for your money, the intake and exhaust wont do anything for you. Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2017 Ya i think that choice is obvious Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - Jake - 06-16-2017 Tune, then exhaust, don't bother with a CAI. Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - .RJ - 06-16-2017 The only exhaust piece worth upgrading is the downpipe http://www.goapr.com/products/apr_exhau ... b_fwd.html Fucking bonkers.... 150hp/L and 200 ft-lbs/L - might be more power/torques than my 135 This is the motor the BRZ/Miata/Etc needs.
Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - SlimKlim - 06-16-2017 I think if you do the intake at the same time you do the tune they give you a slightly more aggressive map, its only marginally more than just the tune though so it's really only worth it if you want the induction sound. I've seen a few MK7s around here with exhausts and they honestly don't sound very good, so based on that alone I agree with RJ, only piece worth touching is the downpipe if you feel like going that route. Personally the fact that this thing can already light its tires on fire in 1st and 2nd in any weather other than hot & sunny is what makes me stay away from a tune. Without having the differential or at least decently sticky tires, I feel like 404ft-lbs of torque is going to be completely unusable around town. The highway would be a different story though.... Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - Apoc - 06-16-2017 But if I don't have a loud fart can, how will the college chicks I drive by know I'm cool? Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2017 CAN'T HIDE MONEY Get that tune, spin those tires, don't look back dawg Re: Project? Nah... Prolly Not: Mk7 GTI - Apoc - 06-16-2017 So someone tell me how much I'm going to regret an APR tune, given I commute eight miles a day in a city. Re: Project? Nah...
