Funny enough I just take the door off of my race car whenever I work on it :lol: (An m3 has door hinges that can just set, almost none of the gts2 guys including me have bolts in our doors; just lift off)
And I am clumsy, those 2-post lifts I always run into :roll: My poor shins beg in mercy whenever I hit the receiver on my truck, or the tow hooks on the race car. Hence why I am putting straps on the race car.

Today I decided to tackle some of the shelves in the garage. We move in next week so I'll need some place to stack things. We have a bunch of these black/yellow totes that we use, so I wanted to build around that... but i also wanted the lower portion tall enough to tuck a long block, compressor, or whatever under.
1lb 3 inch nails
1lb 2 inch nails
11 2x4 (8 feet long)
1 4x8 Plywood sheet (ripped to 16inch by 92inches)

I pinned the 2x4s to the wall (through the studs)... the "tops" and the wall mounts were predrilled and marked for easy alignment (i was working alone so i only had two hands)

They were pretty strong on their own... and only about 1/8 inch off from the wall to the front. So i started measuring for legs

No, but seriously. Having them up high is nice, but they suck to pull tires up and down. If its once a season...or never like you actually will use it for, it will be fine. :lol:

i dont drive ball'n cars on 17s... and motorcycle rims/tires arent that heavy. i think up high is fine.
i'll probably have to do a custom set up where i want to put it just because of the space. we shall see... time to fire up the welder

We are hoping to get these installed this weekend.... NOT in the tv room lol. I'll need to take some measurements and get my hands on some metal to fab up the tire rack and the rack for the receiver.

nice. i just put ceiling speakers in my garage. really saves a lot of space.
you can get really small 2 and 4 channel amps if you dont need all the DTS-BBQ ProTragic8x Surround braziliian watttz x24 receiver. I have a small amp hooked up to a squeezebox to play pandora, local mp3s, web radio etc.

i'm looking to get a smaller receiver. I'll be using the one your bunny chewed on! I'm also looking to wire it into speakers i am going to put out on the back deck. I'd like to be able to play music only in the garage, only on the deck, and in both places... and control it by a switch.
any ideas? what small receivers were you looking at?

oh ok, yeah you need a multizone receiver if you want to be able to do that.
Im keeping it all in the garage so I use this 4 channel amp board in an enclosure I built and an old laptop power supply.

So a lot has been happening over the last week or so. Some of it has to do with the house and most if it has to do with the garage.
I couldn’t stand to buy a premade tire rack so I set out to build my own. Other than I needed it to fit in a very specific area, I do own a welder, and I’m hard headed… I would (and will) buy a premade one for the next go around. I do have to make one adjustment to the tire rack because under full load it gets a separates a little
Also I did use $100 in metal… 1x1 angle iron that was 3/16 thick… and I know you cant see it, but I swear I used squares and shit (though you should preload for the weight like I did so it technically wasn’t perfectly square)

YAY for crappy welds… I’m using a Lincoln 140 with a 75/25 argon/CO2… but I’m using .025 wire (I should have been using .035 but I was too lazy to change it out). To make sure it didn’t grown I left some gaps and had to double pass and even grind down to fit. I told you it has a specific place to go!

It will fit 15 inch wheels with no tires up to 31 inch tires… as you will see… 15 inch rim, and 22 inch (OSD) CB750 wheel.

While the welder was out I whipped up another project. The mast bath had the towel rack on the other side of the bathroom… so when you get out of the shower there is water all over the damn place. Well the other issue is there isn’t a flat wall to put a traditional towel rack… but there is a vertical wall!
This is an old fence gate thing and two old door knobs. After they were welded on the porcelain knobs were taped off and the whole thing was clear coated so it didn’t rust any more while exposed to the steam in the bathroom.

A couple of weeks back we were in Lancaster PA to get away from all the crazy BS with buying a house… and we went to Sylvia’s favorite store Tellos360. They do a lot of reclaim stuff and we picked up this wine rack for the house.
