So, scuttlebutt on the interwebbernets is that the N5 will be compatible with Sprint. if it's offered this Christmas, I am in there like swimwear, son.

:?:
how is free not worth it?
are there other options?

FWIW, a new updated kindle fire will be released in a matter of weeks (or less)

Yes, it's a points based system so there are other items I can "buy". my bad, should have been more clear.

S4 screen cracked already near the home screen button. Wasn't dropped, wasn't hit, just rested on my nightstand and gently in my pocket. Pretty awesome build quality, working with Verizon but doubtful they will do anything about it. I swear phone manufacturing companies are such scam artists, are phones built to break on purpose to move more units?

WRXtranceformed Wrote:Or you could also just get the Galaxy S4 Active and not have to worry about your screen (or phone in general) breaking. It is such a scam how Apple builds their phones to break and people for some reason just don't care about buying a brand new one again when the screen breaks two weeks later. My old S2 is still kicking and I have dropped that thing so hard at dance shows, the pool, etc. I would have been through 6 sheepphones by now

was your s4 an active or regular?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - RawrImAMonster - 09-23-2013

Dropped my iphones plenty of times and I've never had one crack or break in any way. One of my friends also put his through the washing machine, let it dry out, and it was perfectly fine. They're pretty tough phones.

I would agree with that their tough. I never use cases on my phones and my original phone only had a small crack after 2 years, and I drop shit on the regular. Then my 1st 4S was good for 1.5 years until the battery fritzed out, I bought another 4s and it cracked in 2 weeks......

Since he's VZ it must have been a regular.

Was definitely not an Active, Verizon doesn't offer it yet. I am working with them now on it but they won't officially take it back since it is "broken". Even forum searches are showing that this type of breakage is super rare, so I am really glad that I got the bad apple.

Quite the price cut and worth considering for anyone in the market. Im still holding out for my Yoga 2 though.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 09-23-2013

fwiw, thats the yoga 11, which is windows RT / tegra 3, which is bullshit, slow, and doenst run windows apps.

as opposed to the yoga 13 (the real yoga) which is a real laptop.

And thats exactly why Im not getting it haha. I havent heard one good thing about RT...
EDIT: plus I could never deal with a laptop that small. 13in is the perfect size in my opinion.

Send it to Richard Ryan, then see if VZ will take it back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_gEiU_FDxQ

I haven't kept up with this whole thread, but having finally gotten with the decade about a year ago, I am really unimpressed with Android. Am I doing it wrong?
Both Jess and I have fairly basic phones by Android standards, hers is a Samsung something running 4.0 and mine an HTC Status with 2.2. We use them as phones and for texting 90% of the time, email and web now and then. She has facebook going on hers and uses a lot more data, I refuse.
I think the most ridiculous thing to me is the quality of 3rd party apps. I've tried so many apps just to do simple things like turn the wifi on and off on a schedule, or a different texting app. Most of them break something else, phone stops ringing after a day or two, and I end up deleting them. Many don't even do the one thing they say they do. And they're well rated with 100k+ downloads. WTF? Anything that stops the phone from ringing or receiving texts on any users' phone should be f'ing deleted from the market.
Does rooting these things help at all or is that a step in the wrong direction?
Should I only use paid apps? Many will have a free and paid version, and I guess I assume if the free one doesn't even work, or wastes a day or two while I figure out what it broke, why would I pay for it?
Seems like restarting typically helps, should I find something to restart each every day? I'm guessing whatever app claims to do that won't actually do it of course.
Should I just lower my expectations, wipe both and never expect them to do anything they don't do with the factory apps? :dunno:

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 09-29-2013

Welcome to the problem of nobody really controlling the app store.

I <3'd the iMessage for Android app that came out last week (http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/24/47652 ... -spoof-app). So many dimwits filled in their Apple IDs and passwords into an app that likely stored/sent it away for malicious use. App was up for a good bit until Google finally yanked it.

I continue to use both Android and iOS every day. Android still receives a "terrible" review. Like... absolute shit.
