RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Kaan - 05-30-2019

Hind sight being what it is... the US hasn't made a correct decision for international relations in over 100 years. just in our life time you can see the impacts of letting Saddam stay in power after Shield/Storm and its relation to the current state in the region. No one thinks through potential unintended consequences.

To be a fly on the wall during talks with allies, NATO, and the UN would be mind altering. There is so much knee jerk, short game playing, decisions being made by two different parties on two polar opposites (just here in the US, then factor in everyone else's drama) that there is no way to really play the "long game."

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - .RJ - 05-30-2019

The long game is not giving a fuck about the oil in the ground in the middle east.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Kaan - 05-30-2019

I'd argue the modern issues in the middle east began BEFORE petroleum was discovered there. Its been exacerbated by poor decisions (usually based on trade and/or oil) and a region/culture that isn't compatible with "western" democracy.

I see how some people can think it is an invasion of their personal space, but we elected a guy who is literally on tape talking about sexually assaulting people. Give grandpa a pass for touching shoulders.

The double standard does, yeah. Further, we're talking about a guy who has been told, repeatedly, "Hey man just stop doing the thing nobody likes, ok? just stop. Stop being creepy and you'll probably be president, ok?"

AND WHAT DOES THIS DUDE DO? His first town hall he goes full creepy uncle Joe.

Fuck that guy. And fuck the whole #Pussygrabber crowd who is giving Joe a pass because he's "on their team" or "well he's not Trump"...

Also, fuck our foreign policy since the fall of the Soviet Union. GHWB put us on a real stupid path, and I don't see any way to disentangle ourselves.

Oh Hannity and his merry band of (idiot) followers. It's like "Lock her up" never even happened.
Quote:“Speaker Nancy Pelosi telling senior Democrats she would like to see Trump behind bars,” Hannity exclaimed. “Based on no actual crimes, she wants a political opponent locked up in prison. Umm, that happens in banana republics. Beyond despicable behavior.”

I'm so sick of politics. I feel like news used to revolve around something else for the 3 years that weren't an election year.

We are such a fucking dumpster fire to the rest of the world. We're like the national inquirer of politics.

Gotta tell you, the Democrat party eating itself and Trump saying almost the most racist shit he thought he could get away with... ON TWITTER and the GOP just being, like, cool with it...makes for some serious entertainment.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - BLINGMW - 07-16-2019

I heard bits of good discussion on 1A today and NPR, but is this the most racist thing he said?

"...go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."

The only other thing I could find is twice he said "they can leave".

So he's factually incorrect in that some of these congresswomen were born here, and I get that his inaccurate assumption can be seen as racist, but I might suggest that the GOP is quiet about this because it's not that clear and it's not actionable. And Omar has been a citizen loner than Melania? Oh wow, burn. He's married to her, so how does that prove he's racist exactly?

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 07-16-2019

Nothing proves anything... but it highlights the double-standard based on color of one's skin.

There's also the fact the US EEOC says statements such as this can be deemed harassment based on national origin: https://twitter.com/nick_ramsey/status/1151215286885978112

No, it's doesn't say "anyone who says this is racist" but it does highlight the federal government believes it is a form of discrimination.

FWIW, I think the Poncahontas thing was the most racist thing he's said publicly.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - BLINGMW - 07-16-2019

Sure, it's "harassment" , he's harassing them. Just like calling Warren "Pocahontas" is harassment. She lied about her heritage, trying to use her minority status to her benefit, and he's harassing her about it. Her action was far more "racist" than his comments and she deserved to be called out on it. He's crass, often ignorant and underinformed, doesn't let stuff go, news at 11.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 07-16-2019

Using the name of a prominent figure with native heritage to mock her is the racist part, not giving her a hard time.
