I like how the fact she lives in a three story house is relevant.

Charlotte's old Democratic mayor went to prison, partly due to no-bid deals for his parking decks and his wife's real estate brokerage, partly because he accepted a suitcase full of cash from FBI informants. Lol.

I still remember seeing all of the helicopters and black Tahoe's ripping through the middle of Ballantyne near our house. I knew someone big was going down

I think it's unfair to millenials to describe AOC as a quintessential clueless millenial, but if the shoe fits...

Okay, you're really telling me she has never heard of a garbage disposal? Is Yorktown Heights on well water? I thought she spent much of her upbringing in the Bronx. They surely have garbage disposals.

And yes, Ms. Green New Deal, garbage disposals are environmentally sound as the food does not go sit in a landfill. She has to be acting at this point.

Apparently they were banned in NYC until she was 8 and then not really common after that....

BUT as many have pointed out, she spent part of her childhood in Westchester County and went to college in Boston.

The best internet comment I saw was "I've never used a nuclear bomb, space shuttle, or oil rig but I'm aware they exist."

If Westchester is similar to Long Island, then there was (is?) a law that mandated that garbage disposals couldn't be in your only sink. Meaning you needed a double sink in order to have one, so they were/are super uncommon. I personally never dealt with one first hand until college.

But yeah - you knew what they were.

I had never used one and didn't understand how to use one until college.

Which was before you reached the age of 29 and/or got elected to Congress, yes?

Not sure about that one. If not, I've probably got some paperwork to catch up on.

I'll leave this here.

Quote:Mueller made clear he was barred from indicting a sitting president and that it was Congress’ job to hold the president accountable for any wrongdoing.

“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller said. “We did not however make a determination as to whether the president did commit a crime.”
So where does this take us? It's pretty damn clear that he was not able to charge Trump with any crimes per DOJ policy which means the responsibility lays with Congress and/or impeachment hearings.

At this point, the only thing that really matters is the next presidential election.

I tend to agree with you on that. I think there is a lot of political capital at risk trying to impeach him at this point.

Do Biden's actions really bother you? I find this to be the biggest bullshit reason as to not like a candidate I have ever seen. He is old AF and acts like it. I see how some people can think it is an invasion of their personal space, but we elected a guy who is literally on tape talking about sexually assaulting people. Give grandpa a pass for touching shoulders.

If you are worried about the next election cycle, yes.

If you are worried about how our country and the rest of the world perceives our democratic institutions and procedures, then no.

I think not bringing impeachment to the floor will have long standing impacts on the ability for the rest of the world to take us seriously when it comes to allies, trade, etc - the buffoon in the white house has already done enough damage, but we need to show the rest of the world that our country is stronger than one idiot.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 05-29-2019

Watching the Ken Burns Vietnam special (twice), has shown me things have always been fucked and we're not nearly as bad off about opinions of our democracy as we were 50 years ago. Everything is just a different flavor of pseudo-democracy we call the American government.

I think international opinion will be much more influenced by who gets elected in 2020 than a procedural sideshow. Trump won't get removed from office, so whether or not we re-elect him is what people are going to care about. Obama did a lot to improve our image elsewhere and the next person can do the same. I'd argue kids dying in schools has a lot more influence of people's opinion of us than anything that asshat has done.

Regardless, we've probably seen peak pro-American sentiment for quite awhile. This Pew Research data, which predates Trump getting elected, shows many countries feel we're on the down slope of relevancy.

To be clear, Mueller's comments are about obstruction, not collusion with Russians. I personally don't give too many shits about indictments of Russians that will never see court after the fact. I mostly want to know why none of these reports ever give any mention about what the sitting US president was doing about it the whole time it was going on. That always seems to be left out of any reports on the subject. Hmm.

That's the most sideways "yeah, but Obama..." I've seen to date.
