Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-26-2011 ¡BUENO! Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - REED - 08-07-2011 This seemed like the most appropriate place to post this. I shot my 1st handgun this weekend and it was......awesome. Went to Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn w/ a couple buddies (had a livingsocial deal). I was only able to get behind a Glock 17, but we really wish we had more time to try some others out. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 08-08-2011 i've got a M&P9 if you want to test drive it. stock trigger for now... That was the first time I've had a real drill in mind that requires moving and shooting, and it was a blast. Gets the adrenaline going, helps find weaknesses in your skills, forces you to practice with your weapon and mode of carry at speed, and gives you a personal benchmark to improve on. I was running it starting with my little .380 in my ankle holster, my brother with his 9mm in a side holster. We'd start with 6 in the magazine, time starts when you pull form the holster, rack, shoot 6, run to cover, reload, shoot another 6, time's up. He got down to ~17 sec, and I clearly need more work as I always had at least one miss, so I'm in the mid-20's (fail). Anyway, I highly recommend it. I need to get some real stands though to get the targets up a bit, maybe next time. Once we had enough, we backed up the start and cover locations by another yard or so and ran it with shotguns a few times to finish off our targets. Just one blast for each target, run, reload 3, blast 'em again. I was SERIOUSLY out of practice with handling my shotgun, I was always getting something out of sequence! Need to do that some more! Any other fun drills you guys have tried that aren't too hard to set up? Since I don't hunt, this kind of thing interests me a whole lot more than just standing there doing target practice, and it's much more practical/realistic for handguns. |
